Sticking my neck out and stating that he will play a massive role in us winning the league, sign for us in the summer for about 5 million and go on to be a hero over the next 2-3 years...with some spells of being out of the team through niggling injuries.

Big man has got everything required. Cannot * wait.

Rodgers is also hoping that Idah’s instant impact at Parkhead means the Celtic fans will now trust his judgement of a player. When the Irish striker arrived on deadline day in January, supporters weren’t exactly thrilled about their capture of the Norwich ace

But Idah is now Celtic’s first choice centre-forward, having jumped ahead of star man Kyogo. The 23-year-old has bagged five goals in six games since joining, despite punters’ initial reservations. And Rodgers – who never doubted Idah’s potential – joked that he knows a player when he sees one

He said: “Hopefully there will come a time here when I can be trusted – and maybe I have an idea of what I’m doing. Adam was a player that came to us late. His agent rang me up and said there was a possibility.

“The agent knew I liked him as a young player. When he was available it excited me. Sometimes a player just needs a change of environment. The negativity about Adam being third choice striker at Norwich? For me, that wasn’t the case. I know that the potential is there with him

At 23 years old, he has everything to be a really top striker. Part of my strength is helping players develop and improve. He’s come in and really enjoyed it. He gives our team a presence.”

If there’s ever a time we fully trust his judgment, he won’t need to point it out.

A massive plot hole in his theory though, because there’s a severe lack of mention for the other signing, the permanent one rather than loan - Kuhn.

I’m giving Kuhn time before I fully judge the guy, but so far, Rodgers dishing out statements like that when it looks 50% success out his two signings - and again the good ones on loan. Aye, * up Brendan man

Needs to swing in the right directions though mate. That’s just asking to get fans backs up, and there’s plenty of evidence to point towards not trusting his judgement when it comes to signings.

I’d rather he lets his actions speak on his behalf, rather than pointing it out. Just keep the Idah praise there, rather than saying LOOK IM GOOD TROOPS LOOK WHAT IDAHS DOING

Hope your right. He certainly is off to a flyer but tomorrow will be a really big test for him.

Definitely defending a bruised ego rather than taking it on the chin.

He's the target man we've been missing since GG left.

Do you think Rodgers knew much bout kuhu. That be down to recruitment team.
All summer signing was down to recruitment team too. I doubt Rodgers had much off input.

He signed him still mate, down to him. Bad judgement not to do proper due diligence then isn’t it

I don’t think managers get much say on who they sign anymore.
Only players they know or played for them is managers targets.
Like lad from wolves he was mad after and is having great season out in turkey I think he went to

Rodgers has said several times it’s down to him. But if the above is the case, then he's wanting praise for other people’s judgement with that interview

Pretty sure it's a case of 'kinda both things true' because if he REALLY wants someone he worked with he'll essentially scout them for the club, with loads of info and they'll be able to then just confirm it, and the move will be most likely because of the positive relationship between them.

For instance... Pretty sure if he'd said 'this guy Mahrez I know, cost about £25M and 100kpw, but he's a cracker!' it's a no-brainer fail. Also, if the club identify 'the new Mahrez' via the scouts, they're gonna buy him no matter what, because he'll take 2-5yrs to develop and current management will probably be gone.

We live in a different dynamic now, with both players and managers moving on quite quickly. The era of 8-15yr careers at one club for any of them is getting less frequent.

It's why we should be looking at a better club TRAJECTORY with a DOF and total structure than we currently have

Am finding it * hilarious mate, he's been swimming against the tide ever since he came back. Last few month must have been some pressure on him and it looks like he's now turning a corner, so just letting a bit of passion through. * go for it big man I say :BR1:

You’re correct it is my opinion and the majority. Including BR it would appear.

It looks quite different to me, mate. Like you, I don't like the dig and I think that's him defending his bruised ego; but it is crystal clear that the majority of our signings had little to do with Rodgers and a good case can be made that Idah is Rodgers' only signing. I don't think he was just talking about us with that "trust" comment, especially given the timing.

My evidence for this is that of all the signings we made in these two windows, only Yang and Palma went straight into the first team and stayed there. Even Palma, now that Yang is coming good, might not be a guaranteed starter. Some of the decisions (such as Nawrocki being behind Welsh and trying to sell Lagerbielke after 6 months, playing Forrest and Mikey Johnston at times) make zero sense if Rodgers was in charge of the signings.

Yes, I know what Rodgers said about having the final say; but Rodgers says a lot of things. If you look at what he has done rather than what he has said, then no way most of those signings were his. This week's two sa... uhum, I mean decisions to part ways by mutal consent absolutely confirm who was responsible for this.

I've largely kept quiet about Idah, because I've felt a bit conflicted. On the one hand, I couldn't really see how a player warming the bench at Norwich could be the answer for us; but on the other hand, it was very clear that he was Rodgers' signing (possibly even his first signing in a very real sense). From the get go, Rodgers spoke about him with a positivity I hadn't seen from him about any of our previous signings. Having seen him now, I think both points of view still make sense. He's faster than I expected and clearly has potential that can be developed. He makes us a much better team and I can see why Rodgers wanted him. On the other, I can see why he wasn't a starter at Norwich as he's not exactly clinical with his feet. However, Rodgers seems to feel that he can develop him and I'm quite excited by that. Rodgers clearly deserves credit here for bringing in an affordable solution to what was a clear problem.

Speaking of development, Rodgers rightly got a lot of stick for the way we'd been playing since the break; but I haven't seen him get much praise for Yang. We all looked at Yang last summer and saw a lot of talent but also a lot of rawness. He still has some improvement to make regarding his decision making; but he's clearly a much better player now. Rodgers and his ego were very keen to point out that Yang struggled against Beck before. I think we should let his ego have this one: he's earned a bit of praise.

    That penalty was absolutely pitiful.

    A complete momentum changer.

Totally different game if he puts his boot through it. No conviction at all.

If he scores that penalty, we go top today, no doubts about it.

Don't think there's a worse team in Europe with penalties than ourselves, it's utterly disgraceful.

Good link up, but that penalty was a disgrace. Score that and we win today.

That penalty was worse than the two Palma missed. One of the shittiest penalties I've seen tbh.
