Wish I could disagree but I can't. Was Idah good, no but other than Kelleher in goal and maybe to an extent Ogbene nobody else played well for Ireland. We were utterly outclassed. It truly is that simply. There is really nothing else to read into the game other than hopefully getting 74 minutes under his belt will help Idah's match fitness.

It does feel like he's under a lot more pressure than he should be, not even solely referring to his game for Ireland but his performances seem to be under the microscope, purely because of his price tag.

Considering Kyogo is our first choice and not getting displaced anytime soon, I'm more than happy to give Idah as long as he needs, I still don't think he's fully fit, hopefully we see the best of him against Falkirk.

The guys head was up his * for weeks waiting for this transfer to go through. How many minutes has he played for us since? Not many. Give the guy a chance, sure he’ll be fine

Hopefully he gets another start for us against Greece tomorrow and that given this game should be much more competitive he can actually get involved more and even better maybe nab himself a goal.

I disagree tbh. I think he's been given fair slack here since he rejoined. His performances will rightly be scrutinised though, it's the same for every player at Celtic

You had people comment after his performance on here and on twitter saying he was a waste of money and there's far better value out there. There's already talk about him showing up overweight and unfit (the latter is true, the former is nonsense)

Not saying he shouldn't be criticised after a poor performance, but he's always going to be up against it when we overpaid for him. It's easy to forget the guy is still a work in progress.

Fair enough, not seen that kinda criticism myself. He'll be sound though, has so much potential

I could not give a * how his performance was playing for a really bad NT against a very, very good England side. He will do the job for us and that is what we brought him in for.

Wouldn’t be getting overexcited about it but watching it as an Ireland fan I was disappointed in his performance tbh. He needed to be more physical and give us respite at times and he didn’t.

We are going to come up against teams much better than us in the Champions League and he’ll need to do that job much, much more effectively. Granted, he should have better service.

I'm a fan of him but there's only so long the 'needs match sharpness' patience will last.

We all know we paid more than he's actually worth.

But even at what I, personally, consider his value to be at 5m, he will come good.

The club got rinsed by Norwich and the entire saga helped no one, but Norwich. Idah clearly would join not being remotely match sharp, not trained with the squad - at a time Rodgers was singing the praises of the squad and where we have got to during pre season, which Idah wasn't part of - it's absolutely expected that idah thus would come unfit/overweight/lacking sharpness/delete as appropriate and add others.

I hate the international break at the best of times, but this one I truly hate. The season just gets going, new signings just come in, and it all comes to a halt and we are left hanging.
But the one thing this break does afford, is guys like Idah, Engels, McCowan etc all get the extra week to 10 days to get up to speed.
Be that Idah getting match sharpness and fitness while away, Engels or Mccowan getting a little bit extra time with the coaches at the club and then learning where we are at.

I don't expect Idah to start against hearts and be explosive like his Killie game last season, but I do reckon he will get another couple weeks and appearances before the pressure starts. But I think he should cope.

If we get to mod October though and he's underperforming and lacking, then criticism is fair. But today, nah give the lad a chance.

    This.

He will need to get upto speed and contribute soon. I also think he has potential but do have a worry that we've paid the fee based off of 4 good months.

Hope Rodgers' faith isn't misplaced. Don't think it will be, mind.

Even Ronaldo would fail to score in our Republic team... But do you know what.. I bet he nabs one tonight... Wonder if GG is playing or did he say he'd retired... Too lazy to look... May try a cheeky stream for the excitement (lol) of what will be a terrible game!

I should clarify that I think he'll be fine and will do well for us, but in the short term I can see fans getting quickly frustrated if he doesn't start scoring.

Him and Scales on the bench. I thought Idah got injured the other day so quite relieved to see him on the bench

I won't... I'm used to him not scoring for Ireland!

Was hoping Idah would start again today but no he is on the bench to start against Greece. Hopefully he at least gets on in the second half and gets some more minutes to work on his match sharpness/fitness.

Not much he could do at that point but at least he got one start so hopefully he comes back to us closer to full match sharpness for this weekend.
