Mate, we don't really scout players. Most of our signings come from a) the manager personally knowing the player, or b) player recommendations from agents.

Like I said, I still think this will happen. If it wasn't looking likely, we'd have signed another guy by now with a similar profile to Idah. There's dozens of players out there that with his attributes.

 

Surely he must be away now.

I get why he’s doing it as he wants to come to us. What’s to say he wouldn’t do it again in the future if he’s doing it now?

Johannes Hoff Thorup says he's drawn a line under Adam Idah's no-show for Norwich City's flight to Austria.

The wantaway striker was jeered by his own fans as he came off the bench at Carrow Road during Saturday's 3-1 defeat to St Pauli. Idah infuriated the Canaries faithful by failing to turn up on time at the airport for the pre-season trip to Austria. Thorup revealed on Tuesday that the Irishman had been disciplined internally, confessing the Hoops' interest "probably" played a role in the 23-year-old's slip-up.


The Parkhead target sat out the 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim but was given a 25-minute run-out today ahead of next week's Championship opener against Oxford City. But Idah was met with a chorus of jeers by the Norwich support as he replaced Josh Sargent. The Old Firm Scottish Cup-winning goal hero made his feelings clear at full-time by heading straight down the tunnel as his teammates applauded the crowd.


And while it's clear that Idah is itching for a permanent return to Glasgow, Thorup remains adamant that the frontman will play a major role under him this season.


Speaking after today's defeat, Thorup said: "He is definitely part of my plans. He had a good camp in Austria. He came back into the group, of course it took some meetings to make it clear what we expect stepping into the start of the season and the rest of the transfer window. It looks like he's ready to do whatever it takes, accepting his role but also accepting that he was not part of the team in Hoffenheim.


That's how it is. We should expect sometimes that players step a little bit out of what we can expect. It's important that we show that's not acceptable but it's also important that we show when time is gone, then they can get back into the group again and that's where Adam is.

 

Feel for the lad now.. Stuck in an absolute shitehole like Norwich with champions league within his grasp...

Think their manager and board are just wagging their *. He will be a Celtic player before the end of the window. We have one striker and they know that, so are playing hardball. We shouldn’t be starting a season with one striker so they expect us to up our offer as another striker is a must, quickly.
