I'm defo not itk I'm just repeating what I've heard from and acquaintance that told me about mginn and Rodgers weeks before it happened, which I wish I put money on because I thought it was bullshit. All I've heard is Idah is a no goer and there's only one player (mid) possibly close to Signing that has offers elsewhere

 

What I do know is celtic are notoriously bad to deal with, will match wage offers to players with promises to meet club valuations then they will not be heard from for weeks, no surprise since the penny counters seem like a bunch of tight *

 

I wouldn't be paying over £7 million for Idah, who had a solid half season with us.

It's unfortunate, but for that kind of money we could get someone as good or better. Whether I have faith in us to scout them, or even have someone else lined up in the event that we can't sign Adam, is another question.

 

FWIW I still think he'll end up here.

Let's be honest, there's no way we have a contingency plan or back up player to go for should this deal fall through. Does anyone realistically think we're scouting another similar striker just now in case this doesn't happen? I certainly don't.

Think all of our eggs are firmly in the Idah basket, which means we'll probably wait until the last day of the season to sign him. In that case, we'll either end up paying massively over the odds for him (anything over £5m), or he'll kick up such a fuss at Norwich that his position there is untenable. Then we might get him on "our terms".

The club will market it as a massive coup and the usuals will lap it up, buzzing that he's finally signed. Meh.

You would sign someone else just as good as Idah for the money they want for Idah?

Why don't we cut out the middle man and just buy Idah as he's just as good as Idah and costs the same amount as Idah would?

This 'monitoring' banter was a wee bit funny the first 5 times. Now we've seen it about 50 times it getting very annoying

You’re talking utter *. I know folk like to just fling dirt at the club constantly these days but if you think we’re not always looking at players you’re delusional. There’s been several signings over the past few years who have mentioned we’ve tracked them for a while, so even though not every transfer is a success it’s objectively obvious that we scout a large number of players.

 

Hand on heart don't really want him.

If he was a 3rd striker maybe and for £3m or less.

Would rather go elsewhere.

 

Who's doing the scouting though mate? What is the recruitment strategy, is there even one?

We emptied Lawwell Jnr and Dudgeon beginning of March and haven't replaced them.. we announced Mark Cooper in May, what's his exact role/title?

We will definitely be scouting players but the lack of transparency around the strategy is frustrating, if there is indeed a coherent strategy at all..
