Apparently they want what would be a record fee for us.

    Not a massive surprise really.

They have a new manager in, and add to that they saw the impact he had here, so a) want to reassess him for themselves, and b) know that Celtic is keen on the player, so naturally they are going to play a little hardball. After all, there was no fee agreed when the loan was set back in January, and even if there is, look at the situaytion with Bernardo, what happens if one of the clubs is not 100% thinking that is a fair valuation.

I imagine they would keep moving the goal posts whenever we call tbh.

Norwich are an absolute no mark club in the middle of nowhere.

The only way Idah moves is if he forces the love though, which he undoubtedly should.

Price doubled pretty much as soon as the ball hit the net at Hampden.

Tbh I'd aim higher, too much money for a giy that might have had a purple patch for a few months looking at his stats.

Tbh I dont blame Celtic going in with lower offer as for me he's nowhere near the fees they're looking for.

At very best he's going to level us out strikerwise for next season. I'm pretty confident saying his goal figures won't be anything out the ordinary.

Only pain in the * is our board are loving * around with these ex loan guys when we need more than that, probably even upgrade on them.

loved him but I really hope the club haven't put all their eggs in this basket. They should have about 4 or 5 alternatives to Idah. Time to move on I think

I'd genuinely be turning around around to Norwich and saying listen we want Adam and Adam wants to be here. We're making a final offer of x amount and if you reject then we're moving on to other targets......and good luck with having an unhappy player within your ranks.

Not exactly subtle. What you're advocating might win the battle on the day, and lose so many more down the line.

Playing hard ball is one thing, but this is not that. Taking a stance like that is only going to cause resentment at best at a club level, not to mention you're talking about individual people here - players, agents, managers, club execs etc, all of whom talk, either with each other, to their peers or other clients etc. People who connect and move to other clubs etc.

Considering, for a club like ours trying to compete beyond just the Scottish market, and with the business model in place is dependant upon being successful in the transfer market, so it is not just about throwing money ad nausem, because the simple truth is, there is a level that we simply will not ever be able to compete with while we are operating in Scotland. Which is why having the right contacts and connections etc matters, and why the importance of maintaining these cannot be understated, and required a degree of tact and diplomacy.

Having a reputation for hard ball is one thing, getting a toxic reputation is something entirely different.

For me the tactic would be leak a story or two to the press on other strikers we are targeting and leave Idah alone for a few days and see Norwich panic.

They will be wanting the cash for Idah as they have just lost a good few players to free or cheap fees, their main players are nearly all out of contract at the end of this season, so they need a bit of an overhaul.

They have been down a few seasons now so no parachute payments likely.
