    Point was football was different then, more of a 4-4-2 game with wingers and more defensive full-backs. Now it's not, wingers generally arent used now. Teams now play with attacking full-backs and forwards out wide again as they used to before it changed before.

    The reason Ronaldo and Messi changed the game is because they were too good to be pigeon-holed into being a winger, a striker or a forward.

    Guidetti isn't a skilful, dribbling, winger and neither is Griffiths. They lose the most important part of their game when they are shifted about to accommodate people. Proven by the fact although Stokes is still assisting from a wider position his goalscoring has completely dried up.

    They are well capable of playing there though. Same as Suarez will play there for Barcelona or Rooney for Man U or Walcott at Arsenal or Sturridge did at Liverpool when Suarez was fit or Cavani at PSG, Benzema when Higuain was at Real Madrid even though theyd all prefer playing in the middle.

    A lot of forwards now are well capable of playing wide. Ronaldo spends most of his time out wide but doesnt really do anything that a winger would do, all he really does is cut inside and shoot or arrive into the box to get on crosses, Guidetti could do the same for us.

    Sturridge never played there for Liverpool. They altered the formation to get the best out of both players. Which is what we should do

    You're confirming my point because not one of those players that were shifted became better or more of a threat because of it.

    It's not about preference it's about not sticking square pegs in round holes because we're playing a certain way and that's that. Guidetti is an out and out centre forward and so is Griffiths, that's where they should play.

    I can see us losing this game. Coming hard on the heels of a trip to the other side of Europe there could be some heavy legs amongst our bhoys. Guidetti will be fresh though and is more than capable of finding the net a couple of times.

    Don't think there'll be any problems with tired legs if we go with Stokes and Griffiths in the wide positions. Should be a good game anyway, hope Guidetti fires us to victory again :50:
