We did dominate possession when he came on last night :giggle1:

Think he had the ball for about 2 min 30 sec of the added time, fannying about with it.

We held possession, dominating is not a word I would use to describe Mooy faffing about in a circle trying to figure out how to pass the ball through two Shaktar defenders.

In another world where our forwards remembered how to finish and Haksabanovic could delever a decent corner kick, we would have been 2 goals up before bringing Arthur on. It's just rotten luck for him (and us) that circumstances aren't allowing us to use him in the we should be.

Equally, if we're going to compare Rogic's output last season to Mooy this season, then it should be done over the course of a season, not the few matches Mooy has played so far, especially when several of them were when he was clearly unfit after no preseason.

At any rate, they're obviously very different players. And you'll get no arguments from me against how amazing Rogic was. The guy is probably my favourite footballer ever and I loooove him.

I do get your point about the impact Tam could have on a match with goals and assists, especially when things might be going against us. And that solo goal he scored at Tannadice, let's be clear: I doubt Mooy could pull that off on FIFA, let alone in real life :giggle1:

But Mooy can effect the outcome of matches in a different way, which I fully expect to happen more often during the second half of the season. If you take that first goal on the weekend, you pointed out that Mooy passes to Hatate who then creates the opportunity for Ralston, etc. however if you go back 10 seconds before all of that, it's a disguised pass through the lines by Mooy which sets up the attack to begin with.

The last thing I want to be is one of those 'Mooy does things that you just can't appreciate' *, but I do think there is stuff like that which gets missed because it's seemingly simple and not the end result of a goal or assist.

For the third goal, I don't know that I'd characterise it as a poor attempt at a long range shot. It was a shot dipping in front of Gordon which gave him all sorts of problems. It's also worth mentioning that if Ralston's header wasn't in my opinion unfairly ruled out, he has another assist to his name.

But that's neither here nor there, it's all about what he provides the rest of this season.

He also does stuff that doesn't go further because his team mates weren't on his wavelength, but that will come.

My biggest concern with Mooy so far is not his mobility - he's never been massively mobile, but gets around that through his exceptional game reading powers. What has been concerning me is that his ball retention and first touch have not been up to his usual standard.

Mooy's game is all about maintaining and circulating possession until he's ready to pounce with the killer pass, but that all falls by the wayside when his primary skills are letting him down.

Still expect him to have a decent world cup and then a much improved second half of the season.

Honestly the amount of chat that goes to a free signing as a squad player is genius.

it’s nae like we took a potshot an Aaron ramsey. He’s clearly showing enough - including vs ideguchi I should add.

He needs a goal desperately, think that would boost his confidence no ends, the groans in the crowd won't be helping that either.

Everything he's ever done can be forgiven after that tackle on Collum

He's rotten. Adds absolutely nothing to this team, apart from a few passes that anyone can do.
Takes too long and is too casual.

Nonsense. You obviously have not watched him a lot. He has a good rage of passing, just keeps it simple at times. If he is guilty of anything in this game it is dwelling on the ball. He adds a calmness and a composure. Sometimes you just have to keep the ball.

Dan Majstorovic would smoke him in a race, easily. He's the slowest player I can remember in a long time, he's soo * clumsy looking and slow it's unreal. Far too casual too, always getting caught on the ball or kicking it out the pitch.
This amazing range of passing narrative is growing arms and legs. Folk acting like he's Xavi or Pirlo, his passing is no better than Hatate, Calmac, O'Riley or Turnbull. Probably not even better than McCarthy.

He only gets time for us because he's Australian.
