Arthur was excellent yesterday. Gave us a totally new dimension with his balls over the top, especially useful late on when the game is stretched. He'll play a big part this year.

I've went right the other way on him..

    I like him..

Honestly think he'll be vital against low block's on * wee grounds like your Livi's or even Sunday if we don't get the early goals..

    Has some vision..

    Probably about 10...

We get a lot of goals in the first half while he's minding the bench. Score must be about 10 - 2 for when he's been on. Can't remember exactly how they went in against Real.

Again, he’s there to do a job. It’s very clear what his squad role is and it’s linked to the way we play - he comes on to let legs around him rest after 60-70 mins and just control a game. He’s not there to ping in 30 yarders.

He has been taken in for that reason.

    He does it well.

It is, but have to admit when he came on last night in all honesty looked more like protecting the 1 point than going for the 3 points.

He's a safe pair of hands as opposed to a game changer (unless that change includes slowing it down and retaining possession)

I think that’s a quality comment tbh. The issue is we were gubbed after 60 mins. We HAVE to learn how to conserve energy. Even first half we were * after 27 mins.

we need to look at hard 15 then consolidate. Then 35-45 go go go.

Agree. Brilliant for some of the game doesn't cut it at CL level. Just look at what Real did to us. Soaked it up and then clinically finished us off.

Goal for us might have changed it, but we didn't do it, which means we basically fell for the football equivalent of dope-a-rope.

We haven’t scored anywhere near 10 with Mooy on the pitch.

The way folk are going on about him is genuinely embarrassing, particularly the ‘weird how people can’t see it with him’ posts.

He tends to kill games stone dead, and not in a good way.

Almost set the winner up with his ball to Giako I’m sure?

That slow ball roll just summed up our luck last night.

Sounds like to me some fans are spitting the dummy and can't come to admit that Mooy is better than they thought. He has done absolutely nothing wrong since coming in, his passing has been inch perfect, his through ball to Maeda against Dundee Utd was sublime no other player in our team bar maybe CM see or execute that pass. We're a lot more stable in the midfield aswell when he's on as opposed to being open. I sense a lot of will slate him regardless of how good he does just like Starfelt.

Okay, just for you... I went through all our match reports for this year to add up his total minutes and goals F and A while on the pitch.

    Drum roll...

    9 appearances
    230 minutes
    GF - 11
    GA - 2

So my top of head guess was almost bang on, but I underestimated how many goals we'd scored with Mooy on the pitch.

We score a goal for every 21 mins he's on, and concede a goal for every 115 mins he's on.

    No wonder Ange loves him.

Did he not set up the Maeda to square the ball for 9th against Dundee Utd? That’s close to 10?

If people can’t see how he’s being used and how good he’s been in that role, then you’re * at understanding football.

That’s the long and short of it for me, Bitton was used similar last season, but is nowhere near as good. And it’s not even close.

Abilgaard has a major fight to get near the first team, he needs to prove he brings more than McGregor for one, Mooy at the containing possession role and that’s a big ask.

And we have scored about 18 goals without him on the pitch, so not sure what point you think you are making here.

I really don't understand why some are getting pressed by it being pointed out that Mooy is a great player to bring on when we are cruising and just need to steady the ship until the whistle blows but not an ideal player to bring on when we are down or chasing a winner in Europe.

The team's played 810 minutes this season and Mooy has played only 230 of those.

If you're right that we've only scored 18 goals without him, in 580 minutes... I think my point is pretty * obvious, Einstein.

Mind you, I was specifically responding to someone who doubted my claim of Mooy being on the pitch for 10 goals.

Too ponderous for me but, is the only option that allows us to push McGregor further up the park. He’s done ok though.

He's a different player to both though.

I think he will bring a lot to the side once fit. I hope so anyway. Everything I have read suggests he will do so, folk were creaming at the thought of Vinicius and his stats are similar, defensively.

As good as Mooy and McGregor are in that role, they are still not natural defensive mids. (Awaits incoming blast about how Ange doesnt need one). We do, at many times, require that in europe.

I dont think it's a choice of Abildgaard or McGregor either, I think he will allow the latter to be pushed forward.
