Yeah, I did wonder about Hart as I posted that, but he would never have been paid as much as Mooy was in China. Over a hundred thou a week was the quoted sum - for over two years.

Hart would've been paid more over his career but that's not my point. Mooy went to China for mind-* amounts of money that Brighton couldn't equal.

And for those wondering why Mooy when there were any number of other decent EPL midfielders... China is in Asia and teams there get dispensations for the number of Asian players in their roster, just as CL clubs need to have a certain number of home=grown players.

Mooy is classified as Asian so worth more to a Chinese club than a Euro or South American player of slightly more ability.

A lot of fan debate about Mooy going on atm and some undeserved criticism coming his way.

At one stage this season Mooy was one of the best players in the team and if he sustained his form, he would have been contesting for POTS.

He is and always has been technically very good and he has a nice balance about him. He does the simple things very well. He may eventually lose his legs, but he wont lose his technical ability and intelligence.

For me he could play any role in the centre of midfield. He might not be a guaranteed starter next year but he has come in and been a breath of fresh air and surprised a few. Definitely worth keeping him another season.

I'd happily keep him around at the club as he still shows he got we need depending on the type of opposition we are up against.

But overall we need to be finding more mobility in midfield. At times, this could just be nothing more than an aesthetic thing on my part of course - but it does seem like our midfield can be a little static and clunky sometimes when guys like Mooy, Turnbull and O'Riley are playing and it sometimes hinders the flow of our game that Ange dictates.

I'd happily have him for another season. But if a Championship club offered us £3 mil, I'd take it.

    Criticism, really?

I was one of the big doubters early on but once he got up to speed after the world cup he was a revelation..

He does so much work. Is composed and clever as *. His passing is top drawer. He goes beyond and breaks the lines. Scores and creates. Clinical with penalties. Crossing and set pieces usually on point. Has a nice bit of dig..

He came back rusty after injury but has stepped it up again..

He'll definitely be in the squad next year..

Would be madness to let him go imo. Short memories. He was absolutely running the show. Looked the best in the country bar none for months before his little injury.

    Yep..

Crazy to want him hunted after what he's produced..

Ange has a long history with him and trusts him. Mooy wanted to move to Scotland as his missus and kids are from there..

    He won't be going anywhere..

Maybe not so much criticism, but quite negative comments of him, his career and his place in the squad going forward.

I agree with you, he is technically superb and i dont think he has looked out of place.

I like the guy, he’s proved himself. Like Hatate he has had some stinkers and in midfield that gets highlighted, but he has contributed massively to our team.

    I like his humility too.

Happy to keep him for next season, I'd still have him.as first choice over O'Riley, really good when he's on form.

If it weren't for his apparent inability to express himself, I'd want him on the coaching staff after next season.

I think we all agree Mooy has a top tier football brain. There are three things at which he absolutely excels...

He reads the play brilliantly and always knows where to be - with or without the ball.

His knowledge of where all his team mates are, at all times, is utterly uncanny. It is this bizarre knowledge that unleashes his incredible passing range.

Almost most importantly, the biggest skill he has is the many micro-movements he makes when on the ball. Anyone trying to close him down is confronted with tiny jinks and feints which are all designed to give him the half metre he needs to get his passes away.

If he could pass all that knowledge/skill onto others it would be invaluable, but how does someone with a vocabulary of less than a hundred words teach anyone anything?

Friend of mine was Mooy's (and Kewell's) maths teacher at Westfield Sports High...

She hangs her head in despair when talking about them.

For a number of the reasons listed above, i believe that if he keeps his fitness up, that he could play for another 2 or 3 seasons at SPL level.

You’ll get next season out of him and 1 more at an absolute push.

We should just enjoy him next season hopefully one he starts fully match fit and performs from day dot. We need the best version of Mooy in the Champions League.

*If* he's fit and playing first-team football, he should start for Celtic in the champions league.

I'm unsure he'll have played enough games, though.
