I just don't think we need him, he's no better a defensive midfielder than Bitton and offers similar to Rogic going forward so seems a pointless signing.

Would rather get a more defensive minded CDM in for the wages he'd command.

Rogic, who is younger than mooy, that was competing with an extremely similar player in O'Riley..

We don't need an older Rogic when he's just left.

I get that you've never watched a lot of Mooy... but he's nothing like Rogic.

    Rogic was a creative #10.

Mooy is a creative #6, or maybe #8 in his younger days.

These days Mooy is a #6 and * good one. At 31 he doesn't have much longer at the top but right now... he'd be a fabulous player for Celtic.

Thing is, I'm scared to * death he might wind up at the zombies, because then I'd have to hate him.

Not saying he's like Rogic as a player, but he doesn't offer much different to Tam going forward or Bitton defensively. Only watched him for Huddersfield in the championship and EPL tbh but I'm assuming he's slower now and he wasn't the most mobile back then.

Think he could do a job but considering our options in midfield we don't need to sign him. We need a proper holding midfielder to push McGregor into that 8 role. Would you say Mooy is solid enough at CDM to stop our defence being exposed in Europe as it was last season?

If he’s a 6 then even leas reason to sign him.

We need a physical presence in there who is sound defensively first and foremost. Mooy would just be a poor man’s Callum McGregor.

Would have taken him last year, but we don't need him currently.

To be fair, I don't know that Mooy is the right player for that job. What we really want is a tall, hard Patrick Vieira type player who screens the defence and starts attacks. Mooy is excellent at controlling play and starting attacks from deep, but he's not the monstrous defensive mid we lack (for Europe). He would take the SPL in his stride though.

What does similar mean then, lol., he's Australian?

You said he offers similar to rogic, so pointless. Pointless being poty nominee, team of the year, goal of the season and a hand in probably the league winning game. But aye that'd be pointless.

Would he be an upgrade or similar to Mcgregor in deeper role?

I get he's not a physical monster that we are looking for but if he can have same kind of control over games Mcgregor has while being a bit more defensively minded and allow Mcgregor to play more as an 8 would he be worthwhile?

If he was to be only midfielder signed would that be enough?

Havnt seen him play in years and he was always more of a box to box type so interested to know what those who've seen more of him think

Definitely would allow McGregor to get forward in the SPL, but not sure whether he could be a success there in Europe.

Just had a fantastic game against Peru in a life or death WC qualifier, so still a really good player. I suspect we'll be up against better than Peru in the ECL.

Goes against everything we do in the transfer market.. literally the exact opposite of what we try to achieve when entering the market, so for that reason I can't see it happening..

I know we signed big Joe but I think goal keeper is completely different situation and we needed his experience there..

Its trying to find that balance.

Mcgregor offers so much in there in terms of dictating pace of play, very few can give us that. Reading comments mooy mite and then allows us to either rest or push cal further forward but think we need a bonafied defensive mid for Europe but draw back is a wanyama type can't give us the tempo cal mac can.

Genuinely can’t think of someone we need less.
