I have had some of the best times of my life watching celtic and some of the worst days too, its a rollercoaster but never boring. My family were gaa people , but they hated rangers linfield and my dad hated liverpool. I loved the hooped jersey and always wanted one, since I was a wee boy. And the more I found out about the history the more I loved the team.

If you ask why I support them then its simply because dad did and he put me in a celtic kit and I watched Celtic under MON growing up so I was hardly going to change my mind.

But if you ask why I love celtic then its very different.

I love the history, the charity, the songs and song variety, the atmosphere, togetherness, unique banter and comedy that our support has, the warmth, the rebel stuff, the socialist principles. I love it all. The irish identity is massive too as my grandads irish but me and dad both born in England. Yet me and dad feel irish. We side with Republicans. We love irish culture and music. We have that same fighting irish attitude and never say die spirit. I have nothing in common with england. I understand the Scottish connections of the club too but I have no Scottish connection personally. For me I lobe the irish aspect both politically and just as a cultural and identity thing. I love celtic firstly because of the fans and unreal atmosphere but I love the politics too.

I think every Celt likes politics to some degree even without knowing. For example some dislike the irish rebel songs but would still be anti imperialist or would still like our openness and anti racist and anti fascist stance

I loved Celtic long before I was old enough to understand the politics. I think it's because I was raised by a Celtic fan; when you are a child you make psychological connections that last forever. In a way, I love Celtic for the same reason as I love my parents - the connections I made as an infant.
