That sums it up for me too.

Plus: Sympathy. Good Club, good fans, great athmosphere, great background (who would support the Huns anyway????)

Celtic have a Spirit one can easily identify with!

Born into it like most people.

The connection and emotion comes once you get to know the clubs history and see the passion that other fans have.

I wasn't born into it but everything just seems perfect to me the romantic aspect of its beings always being an underdog but the biggest draw is the fans who they are and what they repersent and stand for

    False dichotomy CSC.

To be honest, I have got more political as I got older, quite aside from Celtic. I guess my reasons were more to do with football when I was younger; now I'd say the political side is equally important.

To be honest when I started supporting Celtic I didn't even know there was a "political side" to it.

That came later for me, and despite agreeing with most of it, I tend to keep it separate.

I was born and grew up in Glasgow and if you're going to support a football team it's always us or the huns. A lot of my family are huns, my cousins are diehards, so it was quite strange for me to support Celtic I guess. But something drew me to them - I don't know if it was the want to be different from the rest of my family, or other reasons. Fortunately, my dad is less a hun and just a Rangers supporter (he doesn't care for the politics or the Union Jack waving or anything like that, just the football team he watches and supports) so he was willing to take me to games which gave me a good start of course :50:

As I've grown older, I began to learn about the political side to Celtic and found myself in agreement with the views that it traditionally held - so that allowed me to develop an even greater love and understanding for the club that transcended 11 men on a football park. It's what I love most about Celtic - that we mean something greater to people than just guys playing on a football pitch.

Like most others have said in the early years I supported Celtic purely because my dad did. As I grew older (around 8 or 9) I wanted to go to my first game and was told bluntly "the terraces are no place for a child". As the Fergus McCann era kicked off and Celtic Park became an all seater stadium I went to my first Celtic match and was instantly hooked. To walk out and see a sea of green and white and every person there was there for the same reason as you - to support the Celtic - it leaves a lasting impression. Can still vividly remember that first game, Celtic 5 - Dunfermline 1.

I support them because, I was raised in Glasgow around an Irish/Italian family full of tims. Celtic for me is about more than just football. Celtic represents standing up for the underdog, it's a symbol for those who have come from adversity.

Celtic are a family, regardless of colour, race, creed we accept you as long as your heart is a big one.

I * love this club, we don't have the big bucks and the big stars, but we have the best of all, the support.

    politics

seriously though i love what a leading question that is: "true" passion or politics.

you might as well have put true passion (right answer) or politics (you're a bad person)

Same as most, born into it. My family on both sides have always supported Celtic.

Going to my first game and experiencing the crowd and togetherness of it sealed the deal.

Whole family were/are Celtic fans, i remember my Grandad showing me a piece of the Lisbon pitch he brought home with him after the cup final, he had it out his backdoor in a wee corner all by itself. * best club in the world!

My father took me to a Celtic Stirling Albion game when I was 8 or 9. I suppose I could have become an Albion fan, perhaps not liked football and took up ballet or something. But I liked soccer and the old man kept taking me to Celtic games and it snowballed from there.

Was born into it and was helped along the way by being introduced to watching legends like Stein, Johnstone and Mcgrain.

As someone who has lived in England for long spells I quickly learned that Celtics meaning to its fans runs way deeper than anything down there and the passion is something very unique and special that only a select few clubs in the world can rival.

No politics, but I didn't have a choice in the matter. My dad would have killed me if I supported anyone else.

I wasn't coerced into supporting Celtic by any family member as my brother moved country when I was young and my dads not a football fan as such. I support my team due to the history. The club was formed to help the poor who couldn't eat and Celtic offered a table and food as well as a club to call their own. I am catholic but really don't believe in any divine entity looking over us all and strongly dislike the whole religion thing being brought into football too so that also wasn't my reason. So I support Celtic because historically we were formed for all the right reasons and still to this day do amazing work for charities etc.

Then you have the sporting history, first club from these shores to win the big one - trailblazing. I don't think there's a club in the world who can boast a better history than ours.

Good to see that the_club still attracts interest from foreign lands and hope you come over sometime and get to see the team in the flesh mate :)
