    Thanks for the answers.

But there's something that I still can't understand: you talk about family, tradition, but you're not talking about YOUR feelings, your own emotions. When you talk about "tradition" you're talking about emotions and feelings of other people, not yours.

My Dad, my uncle and all my entire family is composed by AC Milan fans - yeah, a sort of tradition -, but I'm different; my Dad's, my brother's or my uncle's beliefs are not mine, and I feel that their passion is not authentic.

    Am I wrong?

Although not from Scotland I have supported Celtic from I was no age . I love Celtic, I love the acetic players and I love the Celtic fans , I may often disagree with them but we always remain friends . The one damper with my love for all things Celtic , is the group of people who posts on various different Celtic forums under the disquise of Celtic supporters but they never can find a good thing to say about the board the players or the manager. How dare they destroy the great Celtic family .

My dad supports Celtic and when you grow up watching Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Petrov, Thompson etc in the same team it's not a difficult decision.

Got I to Celtic through my family. But really just fell in love after I got a season ticket when I was twelve. (Stopped 10 in a row for rangers). Just such an amazing club.

Grandad and dad took me to my first game and I have been hooked ever since. The feelings I get when I hear the roar of paradise and see the sea of green and white around the ground I just can't explain. I have now passed this on to my boy who is just as celtic daft as I am. I aren't scottish or Irish I am from leeds.

I thought it was a great post by the OP, thanks for sharing

Many people start supporting Celtic in the same way you do .. and lets face it, not many 10 year olds would understand politics let alone be attracted by them. I think as you get older you become more aware of politics and hear and read more about subjects that our support are interested in.

People who hold strong political views which are not aligned with most of the support would probably decide to take their bigotry, fascism etc elsewhere in order to stand beside like minded imbeciles.

I think i started supporting the club around 4yrs old (cant remember further back than that). My political or social interest was not awakened until around 13yrs old. Not all supporters hold identical views but i think Celtic is a club where such views are closely aligned and discussed more.

Di Cannio is someone i would like to hear your views on

Well, in Italy he's known for being a fascist.

He was playing for Celtic in 96/97 season, when I was 8 years old. I don't remember his goals with Celtic, but when I saw his shirt exposed in the "Legends area" at Celtic park I've been always asking myself why he's considered a club legend.

Born into it, although the political and cultural aspect was part of that as well.

Don't really understand the question if I'm honest, it's not a straight one or the other.

Born into it, same as most. I do tend to have similar political views as what the club is deemed to stand for. I do believe that we are a football club first and foremost though and at some stages that has been hijacked for political reasons that not all our fans agree with and that some try to marginalise those supporters over.

Unfortunately this is the flip side to one of the clubs core values, that Celtic is a club open to all, where a man is judged by his football alone and all that.

It's an aspect of the club a lot of supporters seemed to struggle with recently in regards to Nir Bitons pro-israeli instagram post.
Players and supporters being able to believe what they want without fear of judgement or abuse some might say is unrealistic when those beliefs so heavily contradict the far left stance of the majority of supporters.

Its my personal opinion that the 'club open to all' thing is simply something that a lot of supporters cling to as a form of one-upmanship over Rangers, given their historical bigoted policies. It feels good being able to say your open to everyone, but I've been on enough busses and heard enough racist abuse and homophobic threats from supporters (and players) to suggest it might not be entirely true.

Unfortunately I was a bit too young to remember if Di Canio's political views caused much controversy around the support at all, but I certainly remember his goals and skills.

Regardless he's certainly not considered a Legend by any majority of the support. A celtic hero maybe, or a cult favourite, but not a Legend.
