Don't be silly, he's a first pick at Celtic no matter how much you like him or not therefore is not on any market.

ha - exactly my thoughts - just realised when i was checking through responses to that one....

Overall, i can't agree with this lack of effort argument whatsoever - i think his main shortcomings in a Celtic top are the fact that when playing, he is here, there and everywhere, and not playing a deignated role that suits him....if it's instructions given to him, then the abuse given is unfair..

However, obviously i don't know that for certain - just a stab in the dark 9which, coincidentally, is what Goram deserves after the pish i heard him speaking yesterday).:38:

Their is not a player who is not for sale at Celtic, if you think we wouldn´t sell Boruc or McGeady if a club came in with an acceptable offer least of all Brown, then your kidding yourself.

On lack of effort I agree, if anything he tries too hard he needs to calm it.

Who is talking about Boruc or McGeady or acceptable offers? :97:

I'm talking about a transfer market you can place out of favour players on, which Scott Brown isn't and won't be a part of.

I think it was maybe intended to refer to te transfer market as a whole? Certainly, Scotty B would have a price now, and if we were to be offered as much as our money back i'd be surprised ... reckon the board would jump at it too...had hoped actually that Mowbray would be the guy to do it - Brom have spent a * fortune this summer...

OK that´s different I am not suggesting he´s being touted around.

However you said we would recoup what we paid for him. I would be very surprised if a club offered us 4.4 mil and I would be equally surprised if Celtic turned it down.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

    All hypothetical.

I just hope he proves every doubter wrong to that point where if an £8 million bid did come back in the fans would be up in arms if we did accept.

It's not outwith the realms of possibility.

    Hear hear, lets hope so.

Maybe opens the door a wee bit to Appiah if we are interested in him.

The thing is with brown when at hibs he got right into people and got alot of bookings and ended up with a few reds, when he came to the mighty hoops wgs tried to cut that out of his game cause we all like to finish the game with 11men and 3points. Has this change to a less aggressive style killed his game...???.Im for one going to give him more time to get over his loss of a family member. After nakamura hase gone and we have brown and robson in the midfield thats when i will judge the guy....

I sort of agree with the original post. i don't rate him and never have and least now people are starting to agree.

There's just something missing. Don't think his heart is totally in it. I think deep down he doesn't overally want to be here and i also think he's lacking in talent. No touch and no creativity. He's a headless chicken.

What a deal that would have been getting double the money that time but to be fair at the time we all would have being crying that we lack ambition if we had sold him.

It says it all that Mowbray at WBA, who coached them both at hibs, is willing to offer at least £4m for Thompson from the huns, but hasn't even enquired about Brown who i think most of us would be more than happy to sell for the money we paid!

I think your right. My Boss told me this a while ago when Brown signed but I didn't believe him.. them he told me about Jackie McNamara leaving Aberdeen a day before he done so. Also what Jackie said to Calderwood etc and how he treats his younger players, hence why he walked in the end.

He's pretty close with Stephen Glass so it's not hard to get some inside info..

I also think the same.. "they" Brown and Thomson were a duo and I often think he's looking over at Thomson wishing he was there instead. Like I said earlier, I don't think he wants to play for us therefor his heart isn't at our club. I'd sell him asap and get someone who wants to play for the club, someone like Robson.

This is a big season for him, if he fails this year, he's gone.

To be fair to scotty last season was a write off.As we all know he had some highly publicised family problems that led to a severe loss of form. IMO he started off quite well in the glorious G&W and i think as the seriousness of his sisters illness came to light his form quickly dipped. Apart from that i think WGS has changed his game by taking some of his ferocity away and trying to get him into playing umpteen positions like RM (im only surprised he hasn't tried him at LB yet) when Naka was injured for a good chunk of last season and shiftin him a few times to accomodate the shower of * that was Tommy G, this was never his game at Hibs (imagine Keano not being a * nutter he defo wouldnt be the same player as he was) i honestly believe Broony has the potential to be special i'm not saying WGS has to change the system to gear our game to Broony but let him off the leash to do what he does best bootin baws and takin names:50: 4-I-A-R
P.S. Ally McCoist seriously needs a haircut to sort oot that dodgy balding barnet it offended me almost as much as the 2nd half performance also very upset at the banner unfurled by the scum displaying an ambulance with the reg TBO1 on sunday hope its not as sinister as it sounds to me

I'm sick of Celtic fans on here acting like huns, * sake Brown played well in the Old Firm game but Hartley was pish yet there are a million posts about how Brown was pish.

Is it because Hartley is playing for his boyhood heroes that the fans don't give him any stick?

The fact is loads of fans don't like Brown because there is a rumour he was a Rangers fan as a boy. Who gives a * who he supported as a boy cause I can tell you now loads of Celtic greats did not grow up supporting the hoops.

Also if he did not want to sign for us why did he turn down better offers from the premiership to come to us, Lawell said.

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Celtic | Brown completes switch to Celtic

Its also totally amazing that so many fans on here can mind read, e.g., "I often think he's looking over at Thomson wishing he was there instead". Is it just me or is this not unfound tripe.

At the end of the day the huns have a manager that likes his players to play with passion and run about diving into everything which would probably suit Brown but Celtic have a manager that likes the team to stick with tactics, this might take a bit longer for him to find his game but he'll get there as he has loads of talent.

Also WGS has brought us the title 3 years in a row and the CL last 16 twice in a row so I think we should trust the guy and he certainly rates brown.

It's hard to judge him on last season ta be fair, but a lot of it comes down to the system we play.At Hibs he was a dynamo, always getting beyond the strikers, runnigna t defenders. In Strachan's team he's asked to play ahead of a holding near static Hartley with Naka and McGeady as wingers leaving him isolated most of the time and then as a consequence they float in and out of games too because they get * all help from the central midfielders.Against teams who pass the ball well,we will always get found out.

I don't believe that Brown,Donati,Jarosik,Sno,Gravesen were all bad players but we don't play to their strengths, instead we try to change them and as a result we end up not firing on all cylinders. It's almost like we coach any individualism, agression, and creativity out of these players .
Let's have a look at how Burley uses him
