Since * features Leveins doin it with scotland how would you react if we started doing it?(Ken we willn't but just say we did). I spoke to a mate and we both agreed we'd (celtic supporters) be pretty * off if we done this. If it got results would you accept it? IMO i beleive we should try and play the way Jock Stein made us play and thats attack, attack, attack.
Another wee questions what do you think is the 'celtic way'?

Celtic are a team built on playing attacking, direct, free flowing football.
Id stop watching them if we played this formation every week (Ok I wouldn't but id be reluctant to get a season ticket)
Id love to see 4-3-3 more often.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 11, 2010 -
IMO, the Celtic Way is attacking football where we take the game to the opposition. As far as a 4-6-0 goes, it would be embarassing. I think i would be reconsidering my £520 and thinking about spending it on something else. I dont think i could watch that formation every week.

Its a horrible formation! He * up big time with that one, No i definately would not be happy with Celtic playing 4-6-0
I would rather watch us lose but attack and have chances than draw or lose with no attacking play, there was nothing to watch when Scotland played, i was actually glad when the Czechs scored. -

4-6-0 can work as a formation.
Man United played exactly that formation with Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney and Giggs playing as midfielders but in advanced roles a few years back.
It was a slightly reworked version of the 4-6-0 but it was ace to watch in my opinion and one of the reason Ronaldo scored about 900 goals that season. -

One of the darkest moments in scottish football that pish the other night, If we did it id be sick to the very pit of my stomach it goes beyond the Hun anti football and enters a whole new category of cuntynesssssssss!

if we went to the nou camp needing a draw to progress in the champions leauge and we played this formation and drew a would be delighted

Honestly I wouldn't recommend it, it's unproven apart from Man U and maybe Barca but I quite like the idea of essentially a four man attack playing some free flowing adaptive football.
I reckon to a certain extent some of our squad has the ability to play this type of game and it'd baffle the * out of every other side in the SPL. -
There's a difference between the Roma 4-6-0 that SAF later adopted for a while and the 4--0 that Scotland disgusted us all with and not just the quality of player but the attacking mentality.
There is a time and a place for really defensive tactics like 4-5-1 and we shouldn't be afraid to do it, but I don't think Scotland against a poor Czech side was the time for Levein and I don't think given the quality of attackers in our squad right now we need to realistically do it this season. Especially not a defensive 4-6-0. -

It all depends how the formation is played.
I want to see us playing in a 3-6-1 formation for the Old Firm. Now, if the full backs don't get forward that looks suspiciously similar to the 5-4-1 formation cuntybaws from Ibrox put out agasint Man Untd.
If you have 4 at the back and dont play a Centre Forward it doesnt mean you have to play like Scotland did at the weekend.
Based on the formation and squad Levin used you could have set-up like this
---------------Gordon-----------------
Hutton----Berra---McManus--Whittaker
-----Robson--Caldwell--Fletcher-------
Dorrans-------Naysmith---------Maloney
There you've got 6 midfielders, no centre forwards or wing forwards and I'd say a pretty attacking formation, especially if you push Robson and Fletcher forward as well.
For me that would have provided a great defence, but also given us the pace and skill to hit them on the counter.
