Fkn smelling of roses then, as they were that bad, we actually beat them in the end, and even more laughable was big Boyata was the difference. :56:

Got a feeling we'll be fine. I think with it being BRs first competative game in charge a blip was probable. You look at similar results like Artmedia and what we eventually went on to do.
BR needs to be similarly ruthless with certain players though.

    Aye.

As in strong defensively, don't score a lot, nightmare trip, Eastern European side with a couple of dangerous players.

The Astana right back has a great name : Igor Shitov. Let's hope he is.

Can't see us beating them over there considering atletico Madrid and galatasary couldn't.

    * me people I realise that we are pish now a days but I don't give a flying * how bad we are we can beat Astana over 2 legs. Yes there home record is pretty good but as many people point out they only end up winning by 1 and even if they do beat us at there spot we can beat them at Parkhead look at Shakthar Kag game we where * * back then but turned them over 3-0 after losing 2-0 at there spot. Have some faith we can do this.

Unless we strengthen between now and then, there is nothing to suggest we can get through to the Group Stage..

The squad lacks character and leadership.. And quality..

We need to get these players in now.

Astana are no use. I watched a couple of their home games last season. They're difficult to beat out there because of the * pitch and the long journey.

The way I see it is, our path to the Groups is never going to be easy. What's the point in getting uptight about drawing Astana? If we're good enough, we'll beat them.

Exactly, and if we're not good enough then we dont deserve to be there. I think we will draw away and win at home.

The point is if we need to strengthen now..

We need to learn that our most important part of the season is now and yet again we are unprepared.

This board wont spend big til the group stage is guaranteed, Brendan or no Brendan, unless we miraculously sell a * load of players very soon.

I'm not saying it's going to be easy. Being half way through their season is a big advantage yeah, but if we are afraid of facing Astana we've lost the plot.

They've got a decent team but we have nothing to be afraid of.

We should do this by region.

Teams from western Europe play teams from western Europe; teams from eastern Europe play teams from eastern Europe/Asia.

32 goals in 20 games in Kazakhstan league doesn't send shivers up my spine tbh.

They don't score many but are a good defensive unit going by statistics and their * load of 1-0's.
