I'm with you on that one. I have a lot of time for Nicola Sturgeon and I will support her fully for the time being.

However, Harvie and the Green party stand for more of my political beliefs than the SNP do, he makes some really great points.

Scotland really has such a persecution complex. "They won't give us independece while the reptiles are in charge". How about, you didn't win the independence debate because the Scottish people didn't want it, and never did?

50% tax rise of the rich
Getting rid of the Bedroom Tax
    Non-Dom tax
    Minimum wage rise.
    Save guarding the NHS
    Mansion Tax

Some sound policies in there. Ed Miliband has done some good work from opposition; he got parliament to recognise the state of Palestine; he rallied against the Murdoch media and phone hacking; he almost got the bedroom tax repealed; and voted down the bombing of Syria a couple of years ago.

Are these not policies of the left? Granted, he isn't the most charismatic, but I go with substance over style. He has done alright. The fact that he did you after the media has not done him any favour, however. The Murdoch media have put hi throughly the blender.

He is more left than Sturgeon; their plans for independence were a joke; no cuts!!! ..... As long as we keep oil at $130 a barrel, in small print.

Personally, I didn't vote for Labour 05 and 10 due to the war, but I'm back on board. They got some good left leaning policies. In my opinion, Scotland are traitors of the left, allowing Cameron a swing at it, leaving Manchester, Yorshire and the North East to fight it out alone. We built that system together and you are throwing it away for some selfish petty nationalism. It's shocking.

I think that final quote sums up how out of your depth you are when discussing this issue.

If you think labours plans for the non-dom status are smart, you are wrong. The UK will likely see a reduction in collected tax due to labour thinking they are smart. Even Ed balls admitted this 3 months ago.

Yeah, I did read that..... in the Daily Mail.:smiley-laughing002: I didn't realize you could lose tax for thinking you were smart? You will be telling me that the rich will all be running back to Honk Kong or Switzerland because the taxes are too high? Are you Myleene Klass????Don't believe that high tax nonsense. California was running a deficit of $25 billion and with some taxing got into a surplus in two years! Why are you backing the Tories anyway?

Why do Russians, Chinese, Indians and Arabs squat here? For the safety of their life and money. They know in their own country their wealth will be confiscated if they ever fell out with the people or ruling elite. Time to pay for that safety and the way of life a little higher than they have been paying recently. They will not run away from London. Where is better than London? Switzerland? Hong Kong? New York? Paris? Switzerland's too boring, Hong Kong is too far away and Paris and New York have much harsher taxes.

:smiley-laughing002: No I certainly do not read the daily mail , hope you enjoy that "paper".

Ok then as you believe yourself to understand the non-dom rules go on then tell us what they are ? Im sure google will help.

I will give you some pointers, there are approx. 115k non-doms and they pay about 226 million in tax approx ,do you have any idea how that figure is arrived at ? Do you know what income they earn in the UK while they "squat" here ? Oh and no they wont need to run anywhere else to reduce their tax bill, despite liebour saying they will increase the tax take they will merely declare less income and the tax take will reduce. Not complicated really, even for a daily mail reader to grasp I would hope. You really are a regular little travel agent huh "Switzerland boring", "Hong Kong far away" :56:

Not agreed with a few of your opinions recently but this I do. :smiley-laughing002:

Obviously we need to tackle tax evasion by big companies (I think I have used the correct one - no knit-picking!), however its difficult - you have to get the balance correct.

This non-dom tax bill has been thrown up, all the experts (even Ed Balls) agree that it will mean a loss in revenue. Same as the infamous 50% tax.

Had to chuckle at that aswell - I mean London is the only exciting place on earth.....

Russians may be fleeing their government, the Chinese, Brazilians, Americans, Japanese and Saudi folk are not. I don't believe for a second these wealthy people would have any qualms upping stick and heading elsewhere. They probably spend much of their time travelling and living all over the place anyway.

I agree with this as well, everything I've read of the policies I lean more towards the Greens. SNP is purely about gaining our Independence.

Don't tell anyone but sometimes I don't agree with my opinion either but once committed ... :52:

Naw no need to nit pick you are right, evasion needs to be cracked down on and while its easy to say the tories are doing nothing, they are.
The joke about non-doms is they are paying tax on income earned abroad, is that really moral in the first place , Im not sure it is being honest but I know if the government want to * about with it then all they need to do is declare less and let the government prove different , this equals less tax take.

Aye it must be hard deciding to spend a couple of months in London before heading to boring Switzerland to recharge the batteries:97:

Remember the SNP have shown that they can balance the books and that is worth a lot , no offence to the Greens but its easier to say from the side-lines this is how it will work. (we hope).

I hear lab and libs are going round door saying they will lose or have their pensions cut if SNP win. Lower than crocodile baws. Reality is SNP are going to raise pensions 2.5pc and have a triple lock on them. Reality is old folks free home care is down to the SNP. Reality is free prescriptions, free bus travel, free hospital parking etc is especially good for the WC auld yins. Reality is SNP have built vastly more social and sheltered housing in a few years than La b did when they were in power. Reality is the frozen council tax has saved them a load of money. Pensioners should love the SNP.

Slabour are also going on about full fiscal autonomy when noone is offering it. We also know the GERS economic figs for Scotland are misleading as whisky exports and other Scottish produces are listed to English ports and excluded from the figs. A lot of people think the Scottish economy is doing a lot better than they will ever allow us to know.

The reality of FFA is that it would be phased in with Scotland getting the Barnet figure minus our revenues. In 2 of the last 4 years and the vast majority of the last 30 years we generated more than the Barnett figure so we would actually have more money and no need for Barnett input. There MAY be a shortfall now - we cannot know because its impossible to get the full info - but so does the UK and in the vast majority of years our shortfall is less than the UK per head.

However Project Fear 2 was in full swing today. However noone is listening. SNP have been on 49 and even 51 seats in polls in last couple of days.

England is 90pc of the UK pop. We are just a little old 9pc. If Labour dont get in it will be because England have shunned Labour. We are just a drop in the ocean. The very fact you, a country 10 times our size, are sweating over our vote tells you all you need to know about England. Only about 30-odd PC vote even as far left as modern Labour. We have a 15pc tory vote. England has about 50pc RW if you add up Tories, Kippers etc. So, look at yourselves and the right wing bampottery of the English rather than try and point the finger at us.

Also as long as the Tories and Kippers only end up with 35 or so percent of the seats then they cannot get in power. Its not the biggest party who form the governement-thanks Tim Time - they get the default initial chance but its the party that can command some sort of majority themselves or by agreement who will form the government. At the moment only a Lab-SNP govt is possible. Its almost impossible for any other combination to win.

Also polls have shown that the preferred outcome of Scots is a Lab-SNP govt or agreement - much more popular than a simple Lab majority. Dinny worry anyway Lab's figs are going up in England as Ed has looked nearly human at times in the debates and interviews recently. I just cannot see any way the Tories could possibly form a govt - the SNP have totally ruled that out. All that leaves is maybe 3 or 4 kippers and maybe 9 or so bampot unionists in Northern Ireland. Even if the Libs completely commit electoral suicide again and back the Tories they might get about 25 sears. That is tories plus less than 40 others. Labour have the SNP, Greens, SDLP, Plaid. the Alliance etc which might come to as much as 60 seats and that without even including the Liberal rats prob 25 seats. So, IMO its very unlikely, unless the English lurch suddenly to the right in the next 3 wees, that the Tories could form a majority-sorry TT.

By the way - that poll above shows Tims are utterly rejecting Labour. The SNP vote is even higher in reality because that includes people who cant vote SNP as well as a few jokers putting UKIP or BNP and 10pc non-voters. The real SNP count in that poll is probably way above 70pc. I would still appeal to Greens to vote SNP in the WMs and Green for the HR elections. The SNP getting about 50 of the seats of 50pc of the vote is probably going to put electoral reform back up for debate and long term that could greatly benefit the greens. The more hung the parliament and the greater the non-big 3 cartel seats the more likely electoral reform will suddenly seem attractive to the bigger parties.

I'm not saying we are not "soft" however, for these extremely wealthy Individuals, it would be just as easy for them to employ a decent tax accountant to reduce what they already pay in tax. Remember the tax they are paying here, is based on earnings they make abroad as it is.

I did think "the regime" would have clarified the situation by now for us all. Maybe he wasn't as smart as he made out :86:

I just hate this idea that we. 9pc of the UK voters are held responsible for propping up the lazy turnout and lazy Lab vote in England.i saw a yougov survey that Scotland is going to get an 85pc turnout, then northern England about 67pc and the south about 65. The rUK need to sort their own * out and fcking get of their arses and vote instead of blaming us for not babysitting their lazy erchies

Can you honestly blame folk for not voting?

    Be it laziness or disillusionment.
