The team has evolved from last year. Although the DU team struggled in Europe, that could be down to the coaches tactics and preparation rather than the fault of the 3 mentioned players. I think it is actually a bonus that those three have played a lot together.

I don't doubt that for a second. Also with better players behind them they could and should become better too.

It's the sureness that they will be better that annoys me. Ciftci being hailed better than what we had last year being a case in point.

He very well might be and i hope to * he is but people are actually citing him as an improvement on last years qualifiers. It's mental. He has not even scored for us yet!

Who's having a go? Who are these servants, I showed respect to Kayal, I liked him as a player but in the year 2015 I'd prefer Bitton. McGregors still a young player, berget played sparringly over half a season, Pukki couldn't serve in a McD's never mind our football team.

GMS and Stu are not world beaters, but they're defo more solid than having Griffiths/Pukki playing out of position or Callum McGregor. Don't take my word for it, look at the path Ronny has went down with our team, speaks for itself mate:50:

What is it you're basing that on mate, is it just on results from the other night?

Take Zagreb for example, cause we know a bit more about them. Their defence is shaky I'll give you that, but ours is hardly a brick wall and we've yet to see how Boyata copes against quality. We've got the better keeper no doubt.

As far as attacking players go.

Pjaca - scored a hat-trick against us last year. AC Milan sniffing about him
Coric - You could see him having a big future. He's class on the ball.
Soudani - strong quick good movement good finsher. Love to have him here
Henriquez - Chile international. Scored 3 in the europa. 21 in the league

I don't rate our front four as highly as them. I don't think I missed a Celtic game last year, but I can't think what performances have convinced you we're much better than these teams.

We're a hard working team, and we've got a good team spirit, beyond that I don't see how we're better in any measurable way.

I agree with most of what you've said, especially about how ridiculous it is that certain parts of our fanbase seem to automatically hate any player who's been here for more than four years, but if you are suggesting that GMS and Armstrong still are yet to prove they have what it takes but are also suggesting that McGregor was in the team on merit and therefore was more equipped I think that's incongruous. McGregor had played two games in Europe against weak opposition; GMS and Armstrong have played two games against Inter (and shone). Add to this 6 months of domestic experience.

That's a fair point. Armstrong though has flattered to deceive outwith the Inter tie and a couple of domestic games.

GMS has been fantastic though, really excited about him.

Last year we were thrown into these qualifiers, unprepared, while Saltzburg, Zagreb, Legia and maribor were at the top of their form.

This year the tables are turned.

We have had a full season behind us, and we have kept most of our players, while Maribor, Salzburg, etc, have sold their best players and are weaker now than last year.

    We are progressing.

    They are regressing.

    Simple as that.

I would go along with that. We are much better prepared as a team now.

    Hopefully. :fear:

If you compare the first KR game with the one last week it's apparent that there's been significant improvement in lots of aspects. GMS and Armstrong are a lot better than Pukki, McGregor and Berget or whoever started for the qualifiers back in 2014
Boyata seems like a very solid CB, if he's paired with van Dijk I'm pretty sure our defensive back line will be solid.
Only things I hope for is Çiftçi to prove himself soon as the finishing is * poor and the passing to improve (lots of mispasses last few games).
Other than that I think we all see huge improvement from the Legia embarrassment

Ok, fair enough. I disagree with you, but I hope you turn out to be right.

What i mean is that the Scottish Association gives 20% of their ranking points at start of each season.
Of that 20% which is divided up between the 4 Scottish European entrants evenly i belive Celtic should get a bigger % of that.

    Example
If Scotland's coefficent points were 100 the 4 teams would get 20% of that 100 divided equally between them.
This would mean, in this example, each of the 4 qualifiers getting 5 coefficient points each.
    100 x 20% = 20 divided by 4 teams = 5.
Celtic should get 50% instead of 25% meaning Celtic would get 10 instead of 5 points.

    Disagreement can be fruitful.

But only when you specify why you disagree.
