Stokes is more acomplished than Ciftci, McGregor was scoring for fun last season at that time, Mulgrew has more CL experience than Bitton.

I'm failing to see the better equipped argument?

The only thing we have in our favour is our manager has been here a year now and the players know what is expected of them. The players last year were probably more equipped than the players this year.

Berget scored 2 goals in 4 games at Celtic. Which is not bad for a midfielder.

Berget has now scored 7 goals from 12 games at Malmoe.

Still not bad for a midfielder.

I just think Ronny upset the dressing room harmony by playing Berget, a new midfielder on loan in his first game, over league winners like Commons and Stokes.

Ronny had to eject Berget to regain harmony in the dressing room.

If Brown didn't come back till a month after then when he did Ronny wouldn't be still in the job. Most important player be far in saying that I think the way the team is now we would be still good without him but we really need more like Brown in the squad a lot of them seem to nice on the pitch and brown is the only person you can grantee 100% commitment with

We were missing our captain, feilded Kayal/Berget/McGregor who would get nowhere near our starting 11, a year of playing together under our belt and have made some decent signings along the way. If you cant see why we're stronger now then you're at it!

That being said, we're still going to need a bit of luck and some solid performances to even think about qualifying.

If McGregor had continued where he left off last July he would be one of our best players. At the time he was in the team on merit.

Kayal had a great pre season last year too, I was stunned when he was dropped/sold.

Berget was a strange one, Commons should have been in there.

Point stands though that the players we had at our disposal last season were more equipped for the qualifiers than this season. Three of our front four were getting their arses handed to them in Europe long before we did.

That's not to say they wont come good but the salivating over players who have done the square root of * all for us while good servants get * slaughtered on here is nothing short of a joke.

Agree with you around the relentless slaughter but the team is defo more equipped this season as is Ronny, which is the important fact.

one thing.. scott browns here so were sorted. last time we failed at the last hurdle and it was very painful because it was the last game before the groups. im confident we should go through anything less in our standards is a disgrace with the budget and stuff we get we should be more than capable of beating these sides getting thrown at us in the play offs. were glasgow celtic and we can do it when we believe!! Callum Mcgregor scored a couple deflections and deflated into nothing, apart from the goals he had no pace, vision or skill on the ball. He was direct though, and fair doo's to the lad for scoring when no-one else was. But I'd rather GMS, what he has shown in his time here is already more than mcgregor. Puzzled when he was taken off Vs Inter away, he was terrorising them.

Kayal wasn't half the player he was before the Elbows tackle, liked him still for his tenacity but Bitton is much more calm, composed and can distribute the ball. Griffiths was deployed as a winger, Berget was thrown into a team not by merit but because he knew Deila. Pukki was also used as a striker and a winger at some points - he's punted.

To recap, 4 players who'd get nowhere near our current team, griffiths was on the wing, Captain injured, GMS/Armstrong/Ciftci/Boyata in.

Sean Daleer is Callum McGregor, I knew it:smiley-laughing002:

We have three DU players in our front four who hardly set Europe alight the year before.

I'm sure (and hope) they come good but the point still stands.

Far too many people on here get * wet over players who have done * all for us while denigrating players who have been good servants.

Amido Balde being case in point. That guy was a cult hero on here despite picking splinters out his * with the amount of time he spent on the bench. :smiley-laughing002:

The players you mention have yet to prove they have what it takes as well.

That's what i mean about the hero worship over players who have yet to show it consistenly in a Celtic shirt.

It's all very well having a go at players who might not be as good as they used to be but claiming their replacements are better before they have actually proved it is * stupid.

I think we are better equipped this year comfortably as we have Brown and Biton in the middle , but i completely agree with the bold part in general . There are a few of the new/newer players that seem exempt from criticism and are praised excessively at every opportunity while guys who have been top performers for us get criticised and as you say sometimes slaughtered on this forum ( Kris Commons is the most prevalent example imo, with the likes of Mulgrew and Stokes not far behind . )

If Balde got an extended run in the team the brain trust on here would have been screaming for Stokes. :smiley-laughing002:
