2013/14 Champions League Qualification

At least 1 of the games seemed to be dodgy in fairness.

 

I hope who we play have a nice bet on us winning.

 

We've currently got the Swedish Champions in this round.

The strongest team as it stands in the next round we could get would be the Polish Champions or Austrian Champions.

I can see why they go by FH.

 

If they manage to get through we'd have a 4 out of 5 chance of meeting a significantly weaker side to Elfsborg!

I honestly don't see why getting to the groups is our objective. I think we're capable of setting last 16 as a target. I mean, those teams above aren't great.

As it stands we can play: Legia Warsaw, Austria Vienna, Maribor, Shahktyor Karagrandy or Ludogorets.

I would disagree. We sold our 2 best players and havent replaced them and getting to group stages be good achievement. With us been in pot 4, third place would be our objective. We pushed above our weight last year

Tonight will be a really tough game. I'll be delighted to get through tonight as I don't think it's a given.

I will now, however, look at the next round.

There are 5 teams through to the Play-Off Round already. They are Basel, Steaua Bucharest, Maribor, Ludogorets and Shakhter Karagandy.

Also virtually through are Viktoria Plzen who lead 4-0 from the first leg.

The other 4 ties are in the balance.

Best case scenario for us would be for ourselves, Sheriff, Legia Warsaw and FH to go through tonight. That would mean that our possible opponents in the Play-Off Round would be:

Sheriff
Maribor
FH
Ludogorets
Shakhter Karagandy

Those 5 teams are probably inferior to Elfsborg.

Worst case scenario (other than going out) would be that Austria Vienna go through. Wouldn't matter much about Legia and Molde as they are of a similar quality in my opinion. That would leave us with these teams as our possible opponents:

Austria Wien
Legia Warsaw/Molde
Maribor
Ludogorets
Shakhter Karagandy

Tougher section there but still mostly winnable games.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

 

I want ludogorets in the next round for amongst other reasons, this.
