I think any Swiss side apart from Basel would be a walk in the park for us. :50:

If we did get to the playoff by winning the cup we wouldn't be able to play spurs / liverpool as we will both be seeded, not sure about whether birmingham or stoke will be seeded since they haven't played in europe in donkeys years.

Thanks for this thread. Most devastating aspect of losing the league is no CL nights/money/ability to attract a higher caliber of player, but at least there's plenty of good teams in Europa.

this. is there any mathematical or statistical way of telling who's seeded, or do they just...pick.?

It has nothing to do with the teams performances in europe it is all down to the league that they play in. England currently has the highest coefficient and so teams that qualify from the EPL will have the best seedings

Its looking like 2 of either Lyon, PSG or Rennes will be in the playoff round

Thanks mate, do you know if Lyon or Rennes is in the Northwest of France?. I'm going on holiday to there in the summer and it would be good to go if we got them. I think Rennes is as I seem to remember passing it when I went a couple of years ago.

Course its got to do with the teams performance in Europe or there would be no point in getting co-efficient points when getting results in Europe.

The draws for the qualifying rounds, the play-off round and the group stage are all seeded based on the 2010 UEFA club coefficients. The coefficients are calculated on the basis of a combination of 20% of the value of the respective national association’s coefficient for the period from 2006–07 to 2010–11 inclusive and the clubs’ individual performances in the UEFA club competitions during the same period. Clubs are ordered by their coefficients and then divided into pots as required.

So although being from a bigger country helps - its only a small percent and its mainly on how well the individual teams done in Europe previously.

The likes of Stoke who havent been in Europe in centuries will not be seeded.

won't be able to tell until qualifications are played before the round we're in as those winning teams will make up our qualification round. we will probably be seeded. teams like Birmingham and Stoke won't be as they don't have a European record in the last 5 years.

hope all the scottish teams that are in the EL draw at least get to the group stages, would do wonders for the coefficient. We've got two CL spots next season again but * knows how many we've got for the season after that.

no not at all we need quailty in so we can beat rangers and play in europe next season

    GK westwood

    CB's dunne and yobo

    RM seb larsson

    Target man carew

and 5 players like i have said would do that us not having that bit extra quailty this season cost us and we can all see it
