8 months ago my 14 year old bhoy broke his left wrist training at Gateshead stadium after taking a tackle, falling and landing on it resulting in him missing 3 months of last season
Today playing footy in his school on astro turf again, another tackle, falling and landing on his right wrist bending his bone resulting in another cast for 4 to 6 weeks
Now these fields are lethal when wet,i know there is advantages and disadvantages.
what do the talkceltic Bhoys and Ghirls think of them?
am sick of them now :38:

Is 1st generation the sandy pish?
-
aye,if i remember correctly 3rd is thicker, and has black stuff in about it -
Aye 3G is the best
-
I find g3 grass quite tough to play on, think it's quite tiring, then I am unfit lol Also the other week one player fell after a tackle and ended up with a badly broken wrist just like the op said!
-
is there no grass pitches near? -
We don't play on anything other than 3g or grass now. There are quite a few bad pitches kicking around Glasgow like Firhill, Ibrox and Springburn and we avoid them because most games on them end in some sort of injury.

The wee mans school is a sports college and they only have Astro turf beleive or not. there is a council field near by out of school, they only play on it for rugby sessions, it also means the kids have to go out of school and cross a busy road
there is a £4mill upgrade for his club to build new pitches, floodlights and fence them off from dogs, this has been given go ahead but will only start working on the upgrade in october and has been going on since he was playing in the under 10's -
Aye I was playing at Petershill when I did my ankle in, the guy up there thinks that there is something wrong with the pitches up there for the amount of injuries.
I played at the greens the other night and noticed the difference.
