Well as you all know, today is the 8th anniversary of the horrible terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre. A total of 2,993 people died in the attacks including the hijackers, they will not be forgotten. The heroes were the firefighters and civilians who gave their lives to help people stuck in the towers

I remember hearing about that as a primary scholar on the bus home. Didn't have a clue. After learnign so much it was a day when Americans showed they can pull together.
RIP all that were lost YNWA
Also remember the people that put their lives or Health at risk to make attempts to save people knowing so many were being lost.

Almost everyone can remember where they were the day that the news broke...
I remember coming home from school i was 15 at the time and turning on the tv it had just gone 2pm here (UK time) and seeing the North Tower with the gaping hole and smoke pouring out of the building...At first i thought it was a movie then i saw the plane hit live...I called my mum at work She Worked with a woman from States at the time to ask if she had heard the news. To which she hadn't, I hated to be in my Mum's shoes when she told her co-worker what was happening in New York.
I don't think i need to say anymore as i think we all know the rest...
I've said it before and i'll keep on saying it...

Aye, it's the thing al remember forever mate, just watching those scenes brought a chill to me. I really was too young to understnd the issues. But I knew summit was up and a feared for them. I was watchin Sky News having came home from school. The U.K just ground to a halt. Ad say people here, felt it most apart from any other country in the world besides USA- well imo- i did. -

I really only remember being glued to the tv in shock,cancelled everything and followed events from the second it was live till i slept NYC has always been in my mind as a place i love and to see what was going on was so surreal and utterly harrowing,i got so many different feelings and emotions that day and i'll never forget..ever,it changed my life! from that moment i saw how life can be so fragile..until that moment i was nieve about things,well not after..

i had only just came to america at that point i came here 9/7/01. i was just enrolled at university in hoboken right across the river from mid town manhatten. it was mad... i literally got sick watching it all happen.

can't believe it's 8 yrs allready..remember it like it happened yesterday.. watching the tv live i could not believe what was happening, my first thought were not abou terror but some creapy faillure in the planes radarsystems or anything .. might also have somthing to do with me mum dying just 10 days after that.. was a pretty shocking time that for me..
anyhow hope the world never forgets.. RIP

I'm presuming Stevens, top class school :50:.
I went to high school about 10 miles outside of NYC (Catholic High School), and live even closer. After the second plane hit, school was shut down, we were evacuated to the football field, and I was scrambling to find a ride otherwise I would be stuck on the athletic field panicing. Luckily an upperclassman was going to my town, and I took a ride with him. On a highway/motorway going home, you can see the NYC skyline and inevitably you could see the smoke from the towers; unnerving does not begin to explain how I felt and continue to feel about this.
It was ignorant and wrongheaded for that one lad to say the thing he did about Islam; it is better off not to have thugs like this and organizations like this who would want to see us dead; good to stand up for your faith and your values, dissent is okay, but surely not worth killing over.
* Bless our law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, firefighters, all other first responders, and of course the military (particularly the ones I know, one of who is a Spurs fan :rolleyes:)
I pray today and each for peace throughout the world, and may we continue to shine in the example of coexistence while maintaining our values which we hold dear Brother Walfrid laid down in the spirit of The Celtic Football Club over 121 years ago. :ynwacelti
