An unqualified yes. What is even better is how much he has grown into the club and is now very much one of the core group here for the long term. Hopefully he can stay fit becaue he has developed into a great Celtic captain as well as a quality player and at 28 he is now entering his peak career years which it looks like he will be playing all of at Celtic.

Yes he has been worth it, at the time and during the first season i didnt think he was but given his loyalty and service over the past few years he has repaid his fee and put in some good performances. I was disappointed with him the other night giving away a stupid free kick that led to the goal but other than that he had a decent game. The only thing really missing from his game and needs to improve on is his shooting

For whatever reasons, wee Broony never hit the heights he's capable of, in his first two seasons with us. I'm not saying he was ever a bad player for us, but you knew wee Broony could do better for us. We all knew, and were all delighted when we whipped him from under the noses of the Oldco.
Do you all remember Big Bawface Derek, and Keevans, when they bleated that Broony signing for the Oldco was imminent,........ my feckin * :56:
Best thing that ever happened, was him getting handed the armband, always plays for the jersey, always put the team before Scot Brown. He's still a wee snarler on the pitch, but he's matured now, and he's learn't to be fly, not stupid. Take my word, he is going to get even better as time goes on :50: Love his feckin arrogance too :ynwacelti

A resounding Yes from me..Broony has matured into a fine performer, he has managed to curtail his over exuberance to some extent to become a better all round player.
He's the type of player you can't shackle without killing the player and it would seem he's starting to get the balance right.

I love Broony. Hated him before, thought he was thick as *! But I've grown to love him. He impressed me against Milan. Brilliant post mate

Had the pleasure to meet and speak to Brooney at soft play on Monday afternoon. Spoke to him for around 20mins about our kids/fitba and Twitter. Basically asked him if he had any ambitions to play in another league or for another team and his reply was exactly what u had written above. He's happy where he is and has his family close by. Also said he thinks he'll see out his career at Celtic. Which I hope he does.

    Top bhoy as well. :shamrock:

A very good and well presented OP.

I voted yes, but id be lying if i said i thought it was a bargain.I think we have got what we paid for, but i dont personally think his value has soared in any way, or he has been a brilliant investment, like others more recently.

I havent been to a game for almost 3 years, but i still watch them all on TV.I know it isnt the same, but at least i can skyplus stuff!:bbpd:

Anyway, i think he is good, but not spectacular at anything other than showing tenacity etc.

Ultimately, i think he was decent value for the price, but no more.

Id be interested to know what his open market value would be.ie, if at the early part of a contract, how much would it take for the board to give him a nudge?

£4.4 million plus at least 25k a week since signing, not had a full injury-free season for 4 years...never really been the 'star' performer in the team (except maybe for his second season)

Il wait till he's done before I really judge him.

Scott Brown has been a fantastic signing for us, on and off the park.

He has developed into our Captain, he knows what that role means.

On the park he has improved as a player. Even when folk were getting at him, he was never as bad. Now, he is easily the first name on the team sheet.

Off the park...Cannot describe the work that Scott does for cancer charities. An absolute legend.

THE best Celtic Captain in years.

I feared for him last season with his hip injury and did,nt expect him to get much game time and be rested a lot more.
But now he seems to be injury free and improving with each game, turning into a great player and that 4.4m looks like a bargain now.

Scott brown is to celtic what steven gerard is to liverpool. If he plays then the team plays. Scott brown could not look out of place in the epl. Supprised the likes of man utd have never come sniffing.

    Hail hail broony
