Would love him to and I hate to be that guy but I don't think he's interested in signing for us. We could offer £30m and it wouldn't matter.

These are the types of players we should be trying to buy / keep. What a statement it would be if we could get him again next season.

With the squad improving the way it is, keeping a hold of the likes of him would certainly help us getting some CL wins

Man City never paid that much for him sure that their deal was loaded with add ons which would total £12mill if each of them was fulfilled

Ye, You've made this topic and hes only just joined the 20 year old club. I'd make him the num one target.

The fact they never paid that much for him doesn't really come into it though.

They have a bottomless pit of cash. We could offer £30m as has been said above and they'd probably just say "* it, we'll keep him and see how it turns out"

Money is of no interest to them. If this was to have any chance of happening it would need to be the player himself who pushed it through, and, I'm not sure he would.

Regarding spunking most of our budget on 1 hot prospect, I'm glad we're finally in a position to do that! It's the next stage of the Porto model that we've been hoping to reach for years (buying lots of cheaper prospects was only ever supposed to be stage 1: for every Vic, Lurch and Virgil, there are several Baldes, Ambroses, Pukkis, etc.) and, as long as the potential resale value is there, which it is here, it's a sensible investment.

"Best since MON" is a phrase that gets bandied about a lot these days, but for a reason; and I think that CM trio of Broony Armstrong and Rogic is by far the best we've had since MON. Our whole squad is on another level now and for all Forrest's massive improvement (on current form he'd have been one of our best players 2-3 years ago), I think that to reach the next level the priority is another winger of Sinclair's quality on the other side and Roberts fits that bill (people shouldn't forget that we didn't have a match-sharp and on-form Roberts in most of our CL campaign).

I don't think English Prem sides will be rushing out to sign Roberts.

He's not getting into a top 5 squad and I reckon middle to bottom clubs fear the drop too much to go for him.

These clubs tend to play with wingers like Brady, McClean, Antonio. Even the wingers with more flair, like a Zaha or Shaqiri, are powerful and a lot quicker.

Obviously there are exceptions, but they tend to go down that route.

Could see someone like Leicester taking interest if Mahrez is off, but he's nowhere near as good.

Paddy should go and give it his best crack, but I'm sceptical. Not down to his lack of talent, just the cut throat nature of the game down there.

Surely he'll leave Man City? Even if it's not to join us. After playing regularly there's no way he'll go sit in the reserves every week.

Guardiola isn't exactly known for playing young players.

We could spend that much on replacements over the next three years easy and potentially get nothing back.

Our squad doesn't need much work in all honesty so spending that much on player is worth it for me.

Through player sales of the deadwood and the little extra from CL qualification(hopefully) we can use the rest to look for a new CB and competition for Gordon.

I'm not sure you know, I think there is scope there for Roberts to be better then Mahrez.

He'd be just the type of signing Leicester should go for.

Not that I want them to though they can * off

Well he plays John stones every week and he's been gash at times. I think Roberts will get his chance there but his physicality may hold him back. He's extremely talented but may lack the strength and power to do the dirty work for 90 minutes in a premiership game.

No......if we are ever going to spend 12 million on a player id rather it was on a decent striker. Either way if we were in the market for a player of that value plenty of clubs from england would be having a look and we could not compete wages wise.
