Why is he still an Arsenal player? Because he’s contracted to them for the next 6 months. It really is as simple as that. Why is he getting minutes? Zinchenko has played more minutes in the last 10 games than Tierney has… they’re trying to punt him too. Doesn’t really mean anything.

if he is due £3m in wages then surely arsenal spend 1.5m we spend 1.5m and everyone just gets on with it edit in fact if someone signed greg taylor and insisted we pay half of his remaining contract i would be inclined to tell them to do one.we may just have to pay up to get it done

Could be just riding out the last week of pay before a deadline day deal, we get our player, KT maximising his pay from Arsenal, we sort him for a sign on bonus and get him for the CL payoff rounds, everyone is happy.

Zinchenko will go because he has a large value. They’re not trying to punt KT, he’s ran his contract down and is available on a pre.

You’re doing some amount of mental gymnastics here.

Celtic are expected to approach Arsenal to discuss the conditions of a possible loan deal for Kieran Tierney this month.

As Sky Sports News revealed earlier this month, Celtic are close to agreeing pre-contract terms with Tierney for a permanent move in the summer. But the Hoops would like to have left-back return earlier for the Champions League knockouts, if they can do a deal with Arsenal.

The 27-year-old has been making substitute appearances for Arsenal recently since returning to full fitness, but the club have not triggered the one-year extension on his contract.

Arsenal have a decision to make before the transfer deadline, with fellow left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.

The emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly could allow for Tierney and Zinchenko to move in this window, with Ricardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber also able to cover that position.

If Celtic bring in Tierney this month, on-loan left back Alex Valle could return to Barcelona.

Sky Italy understands Como have an agreement with Barca to take Valle on loan, should Celtic agree to terminate his season-long deal

Seems like we were not as far down the line with KT as reported a few weeks ago.

If Arsenal have the 1 year option, does that mean we can't sign him on a pre-contract? Unless it has an expiry date on it ir Arsenal have given written confirmation of not taking up the option

The only person doing mental gymnastics is you.

Why is it a loan deal being discussed? Because he wants his £3m. It’s not rocket science pal.

You’re making it sound like it’s exactly that. It’s a loan deal being discussed because the pre-contract has been signed for weeks and it’s the next natural step to get him in the door early, ironically, without tearing his contract up which you suggested and won’t happen.

Do you know why it won’t happen? Because Tierney doesn’t want to lose £3m in wages and Arsenal can’t make him tear up the contract. So, he wants paid. Which I’ve been saying from the get go. It’s been you who has been feeling the need to defend Tierney from anyone who even suggests he wants paid for the remainder of his contract.

Remember when you said that they wouldn’t be willing to rip up his contract because “they were using him”… now they’re quite happy to loan him out for the remaining 6 months of his contract. So, what is it? They want him or they don’t want him? Confused what you actually believe since you’ve just slabbered absolute nonsense on the subject for the last couple of days.

They’ve already sent him the legal documents to state they will not be exercising their extension. They can’t go back on that.

Why would a loan deal ever be the next natural step rather than a straight transfer if Arsenal know he’s never going back there?

What you’re saying is that Arsenal would rather loan him out and keep paying the vast majority of his almost £3m salary up until the end of the season, rather than sell him this month and MAKE money?

Go on, explain the logic in that.

Pretty sure it's done it's just a matter of deciding over the next week whether he comes now or in 5 months.

If I were to guess, I don't think Arsenal were expecting Zinchenko to leave this window, so I can see the delay.

At the same time Tierney has been told he has no future here, not saying he should force a move but if they don't see him with them beyond the summer it's a bit * to keep him there to still be second choice.

I assume Celtic would go 40-60 what it does do is cut the loss that they are paying g him right now

I’m not saying Arsenal would rather do anything other than they don’t want him to leave at this exact point in time. That is fluid though depending on Zinchenko and Lewis Skelly.

    In what way?

Edit: @jpr21, I’ve just seen your edit and explanation. You seem to have jumped in mid-conversation here haha.

My exact point (and the point @Celtic_Daft1888 has also made) is that Tierney wants the money he is due from the remainder of his Arsenal contract. My point was that a loan move makes absolutely zero sense from Arsenal’s side if the player is happy to walk away from the money this month as @PaulM1888 states so confidently that he is.
