See when CCV pulls up again and KT fills in at CB with GT playing the inverted full back role. Well all forget about this and have a new song to sing. GT and KT at the club would be a sensation.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed he quickly held talks with Greg Taylor after defending the "dedicated Celt" following Kieran Tierney chants during the win over St Mirren.

Supporters inside Parkhead could be heard loudly singing Tierney's name at the Scottish Premiership fixture which irked Rodgers over a "total lack of respect".

The Celtic boss had been left frustrated as he defended Taylor's contribution to the club in a stinging response to the chants.

Rodgers said on Sunday: "Aye, total lack of respect. Of course it is. Greg Taylor. He's been absolutely amazing at this club.

"How does he feel? He's playing. Nearly breaks his nose. Bleeding for the club, for the cause.

"I'm more worried about the players that are here. It's not very respectful if you sing for another player. No matter what Kieran’s history is. I don't like that."

Now, Rodgers has explained the state of play over Taylor's availability after being caught on the nose in the match as he confirmed he did speak with the player on a number of issues.

I have spoken to him, yeah," said Rodgers. "He's absolutely fine. I had a good chat with Greg on a number of things. He's good to go.

"He had a whack, that was obviously a part of going in to make sure he was okay and he rushed in to get some treatment.

    "He's fine, he trained today."

Pushed on Taylor's ability to ignore the noise with his contract expiring in the summer and Tierney links, Rodgers said: "I think Greg is clear on where he is at. For me, he is a dedicated Celt. He's been here for six years, I think tomorrow if he plays it is 200 games as a Celtic player.

"He is a brilliant servant and I hope he can continue to be that throughout my time here and beyond.

"I think you see form his performance level, his commitment to the team and to the club is always there.

"There is always a little backdrop for every player and manager but I think he copes with it really well and you see that in how consistent he is."

On whether a quick resolution to Taylor's contract situation is now required, Rodgers added: "You always want that, ideally. I'm sure Greg does as well. I think between the club and he and his representatives they will find a solution to it I'm sure, either way.

"In the meantime I am here to support him and his performance level and he is fine with it."

Rodgers has also spoken to Taylor, the left-back supporters are impatient to see replaced by Tierney as soon as possible.

Out of contract this summer, Taylor is 27, a senior player and a Scotland international and wants to earn £25,000 a week. When Celtic are bringing back Tierney on £35k at the same time, he seems more likely to go than stay.

Upset by those who chanted Tierney’s name within Taylor’s earshot in the closing stages of the St Mirren game, Rodgers added: ‘I had a good chat with Greg on a number of things. Yeah, he is good to go (in the next match).

‘Greg is clear on where he is at. For me, he is a dedicated Celt. He has been someone who has been here for nearly six years. If he plays tomorrow that is 200 games as a Celtic player which is a lot of games.

‘He is a brilliant servant and I hope he can continue to be that throughout my time here and beyond.’

If we are only paying KT 35k a week that is incredible. He’s currently on 120k a week. I can’t think of another player we’ve ever signed that’s taken that big a cut and we’ll probably never see it again

You just know that tonight when Taylor has his first touch there will the faintest ripple of applause from a select few in the crowd and it will just sound a wee bit of a riddy, if audible at all

With the way Rodgers is he's now a guaranteed starter for the next few games, even though Valle should be given a run in the team imo

ARNE Engels has provided an insight into the influence that Greg Taylor has at Celtic and expressed confidence that uncertainty over his future and speculation about Kieran Tierney returning to Parkhead won’t impact on the left-back’s form in the second half of the season.

Engels has been grateful to the Scotland internationalist for helping him to integrate into the squad at the Glasgow club since completing his £11m transfer from Augsburg in Germany back in August.

The Belgian midfielder is aware that Taylor, who is out of contract in the summer, has still to reach an agreement with the Scottish champions on a new deal and that Arsenal player Tierney has been linked with a return during the January transfer window.

However, he is confident the defender will be at his very best if he makes his 200th appearance for Celtic in the William Hill Premiership match against Dundee United at home this evening and is hopeful his team mate will sign an extension.

Asked how much Taylor contributes in training and matches, he said: “A lot. I will say that it's a lot. First of all, he's a lovely guy. I'm here now for five months maybe and I really love him, how he behaves here, how he is with everybody here inside of the building.

“Second of all, he has so many qualities. You see it every time in training, but especially in the games. He's always performing on the highest level.

“He's not somebody that is going down or something. He's always performing and showing his qualities. Not one day, he's doing it every time. That's something really crazy. He knows how to win trophies also. He's really important for us."

Engels added: “It (Celtic fans chanting Tierney’s name during the win over St Mirren on Sunday) is maybe a little bit difficult for him. I think it's not nice to hear, but he's a grown man so he knows how to deal with it.

“Like I said, he's a lovely guy. He deserves to be here and he deserves to play and perform. That's the only thing I will say about it.”

The msm are really trying to derail the team with this nonsense :56:

Afterall it's rodgers who's signing Tierney so obviously wants an upgrade so what's the problem. Fannies.

If I was taylor I’d be saying to Rodgers….” I don’t even care that much about Tierney coming now…you’ve had players like me before who aren’t good enough for the champions league??”

"Supporters could be heard loudly singing Kieren Tierney's name" - is that how practically everyone came on hear to say that all they heard was moans and groans. Not like the smsm to exaggerate when it comes to paint Celtic in a bad light

    Right, it's getting weird now.

It's like a wwe storyline to build Taylor up to get over.

Like, are we not going for KT and this is now Rodgers and some players trotting out to gaslight us all in to believing he's the best thing for the club and a quality player? Inevitably because they're gonna fall short om Tierney and do their usual PR puff piece on announcing a mega deal for Taylor to sign on again?

It's all just a bit weird now.

This is my worry now. Rodgers * off at the Tierney chants cos he knows he’s not coming now?

cos surely if he knew KT was nearly in the door he wouldn’t be wanting to create any tension about that at all. Or on the other hand is he trying to butter Taylor up to get him to sign…. And then just bench him for KT anyway haha. Wouldn’t be the first time he’s promised stuff to players and gone back on it

    Its red top rag speak;

"Jetting in" = * is on an economy Ryan Air flight from Gatwick, and then intae a black taxi which will be paid in coins.

"State of play" = the story according to * A, B, or C.

"The players representatives" = the * Da/ some other */ a single micky mouse agent with no office and a nokia flip phone

    "Crunch talks" = * talking

"EXCLUSIVE!" = We read on the fan boards / nicked it off the internet

"A source revealed..." = nobody said *, but it makes our waffle sound more plausible

As for Rodgers "holding talks" with Taylor... Bollocks.

He had a yarn with him outside the *.

I actually agree with what was said on Open Goal. Rodgers has made Taylors position a tough one.
If he doesn't re-sign and we re-sign KT it looks like toys out of the pram.
If he stays and continues to make high profile blunders the fans will be on him, out with of spite from Rodger's bullshit.

Im loathed to say it, but Andy Halliday made more sense than our own * manager. The fans were singing for Kieran Tierney. End of. The position has nothing to do with it. Nor Greg Taylor. It does now, thanks to Rodgers.

If the fans were singing for Jota would he be out chatting * about fans disrespecting our incumbent wingers? Or is it because he knows Taylor is a suboptimal LB?

Rodgers has made a fool out of Taylor with this *.
