Your first point mate, that's something you just have no idea on at all unless you work directly with him, his team ect..
I made the second comment in jest, again making the point that he again can't be compared to the player we had to the player that left. Injury or no, he's been playing at a massive upgrade in level on a weekly basis with better facilities, players, opposition.
And to go again, it doesn't matter about his past ffs, it's what he can bring to us going forward I couldn't care less if he broke a leg twice over and needed 1 year out, if he can keep his fitness then bring him back up the road. End of the day if he's out for say 1 month the we have cover and don't need to worry as we're playing dross 90% of the time. But when he's available for matches he walks Into that team. Again, I'm sure our staff will know how to manage him, rather having folk * there pants about what ifs.
This will be the mindset of the backroom team here, they know about him and his injuries and if it's to be believed we're keen then Celtic clearly think there is more positives than negatives.
You mention of wages, to us 25k. We're literally sitting on a pile of cash. It's a huge amount, your going on as if we're skint and need to count the beans. It's peanuts considering his stature, and not to mention we gutted the wage bill In the summer by getting * out the door so those wages pretty much cover his salary by logic.
But happy to spend money on Valle who we know very little about and has already made his intention clear about wanting to go back.
So you want to spend whatever it is on a player, who has played a handful of games in total from the start, is getting kept out a team by Taylor most weeks and in important matches I may add. And also pay I assume would be min 10k at least who we know again. will no doubt if he came, would leave in a season or 2 for a move elsewhere anyway.
Over a boy who would take a pay cut to come here, be the number one option long term, who is in there prime years, played in higher calibre matches In the Epl and la liga, a regular for there national team and won countless trophies way us. But you would turn your nose up at that for a pretty much unknown player, who has yet to even lace KT boots or even Taylors for that matter tbh.
Gee yer head a wobble man and stop the bed wetting.
This ain't football manager. It's real, a player like that turns up on a FREE, you bite the hand off and take it immediately warts and all.
I say again, injuries mean nothing in the grand scheme if you factor in everything. Didn't do us harm way Craig Gordon, or John Garston as I stated earlier. Nor did it do us any harm with the King after his double leg break in Lyon.

Thought he looked good recently when Arsenal played palace … put an unreal whipped cross in for Sterling.

As someone said earlier, we don’t need him to play every game … if we can rotate him with another LB I would be all for it. Ability wise I don’t think we’re attracting that calibre of player without breaking our transfer record.

    It's a difficult one.

We had problems before making sure we had cover for him. If anything his injury problems have got slightly worse since he's been away.

He'll be targeted domestically, I don't doubt it. Imagine what the huns would do to him. He'd have been off after 20mins on Sunday, out for weeks cause one of them has hacked him down.

I think we'd be better off looking at someone more solid.

But I'd love to see him back holding that megaphone & singing his heart out again.

    Tough call.

He's no shrinking violet, and the huns should be more worried what he would do to them. He's no the type to take a doing on the park.

I know. One cross or a through ball and it could destroy them.

    Like I said, it's a tough one.

To me, having KT for big games and keeping Taylor for bog-standard SPFL games is an ideal scenario. You can't have Tierney playing every week, that's a given. But if the price is right, and the price might well be next-to-thing, I'm more than up for giving it a go. Love the bhoy, happy to see him come home.

It doesn't work like that in the real world though, you don't get to pick and choose what games an injury prone player is available for or how long they're out when it happens, Taylor could still end up playing every big game and Tierney being fit and firing when we have an 'easy' run of fixtures, whatever way people try to frame this he would be a massive gamble with his fitness record, if it was any other player without a prior connection to us like he has I don't think half as many people would think it's worth entertaining.

How big the gamble is depends on how much we're investing versus potential return. The potential return is a game-changing player for us in a problem position. The investment is realistically not very much because no one else is going to take a punt on him.

    If it's £10m and 40kpw, it's probably unwise. If it's <£5m and ~£20kpw - more likely I'd think - it's a punt I'd take.

TONY RALSTON’S daughter was an angel in her nativity play - but he reckons Kieran Tierney can be a star at Celtic all over again.

Having to attend four-year-old Mila’s stage performance on Monday morning meant Ralston had to cut short his celebrations following Celtic’s Premier Sports Cup win

Since then SunSport has revealed the Hoops are close to bringing back his former teammate KT.

Age-wise just 17 months separate the pair, who first met when they were eight and nine years old.

They came through the ranks at Parkhead together and have since starred for club and country.

Now, if Brendan Rodgers gets his way, they will be reunited once again

Ralston, 26, said: “We both came through the academy together and he was only a year older than me.

“How old were we when we first met? You’re talking when we were kids so maybe eight and nine. We went up into the older ages and we would have come across each other then.

“In the first team I was maybe 16 or 17 when I started training and he would have been 17 or 18. Then it was all the way through.

“Obviously when you are kids you are always at different stages and on different paths.

He broke into the first team before me but I was involved in the first team and I saw him getting involved in squads. You could see he was going to go on and be a terrific player, which is what he has turned out to be.”

Ralston reckons the Hoops would welcome Kieran Tierney back with open arms

Arsenal have chosen not to take up an option to extend the left-back’s deal beyond the end of the season.

It means Scotland star Tierney, 27, could be poised for a return either next month or in the summer

Right-back Ralston - who has played with him for club AND country - said: “If that is something that happens then of course we’d welcome him back.

“I know him well from his time here before and from being involved in Scotland camps.

“Regardless of his situation and what he decides to do, I am sure it will work out because he is a top player and everybody knows that.

“We know him very well. I wish him all the best in terms of his own situation

Tierney made his first appearance for six months on Wednesday as the Gunners beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in the Carabao Cup.

He hadn’t played since picking up a hamstring injury in Scotland's 1-1 draw with Switzerland at the Euros in June.

Tierney was seven when he joined the Hoops and across 170 appearances he won four league titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

Ralston said: “You know his technical ability on the ball, especially when he’s been playing in that back three with Scotland

He’s got pace and has strength and he’s got an all round game. It would be good to have him back involved with Scotland and it’s great to see him back from injury.

“I was involved in that Scotland game where he got injured and it was great to see him back playing again the other night.

“We’ve got Scotland qualifiers coming up so it’s a good sign. I hope everything goes well for him now.

Tierney was flogged to the Gunners for £25million in August 2019 and earned cult status among Emirates fans when he was pictured clutching a Tesco bag ahead of their game against Sheffield United in June 2020.

He later revealed he was carrying dirty boots and how the photo sparked ridicule from his pals who claimed he’d changed because he used to shop at Aldi.

Mikel Arteta has chosen not to take up an option to extend his stay in North London after an injury-raved five years.

Ralston doesn’t know if he’s got better gear now but is sure he’d look good back in the Hoops.

He grinned: “I can’t comment on that bag! I don’t have a clue if he’s trendier these days!

“He’s just normal. That’s an important trait to have in this profession. You want to keep yourself as grounded as possible and he does a good job at that.

“If you look at the likes of Callum McGregor and James Forrest, we’ve had good people here since we were young to show you the way you are meant to be.”

If we are looking at bringing him back, I'd be asking him if he's willing to retire from international football. It would be a tough ask, but with his injury issues, he could do without the extra games.

Of course we do. We've seen him play for Scotland, admittedly in a different position but he's absolutely nowhere near as mobile as he was when he was here. Does his positional improvements, technical improvements make up for that drop in mobility? Possibly overall. He might be a better overall football player who's less fit and less physically imposing.

No one is denying that as a football player, with his age and surroundings, he will have improved. No one can also deny that his historical injury record is about as bad as you can possibly get and all the improved facilities that he would have been working with down south, including doctors, medical staff, medical accessories have not improved his injury record at all. In fact, it's continued to get steadily worse and his body is starting to decline as he ages. He won't be playing on artificial pitches in the EPL or * knee high grass pitches down south, like he will up here. There are also very few teams down south that play like utter hatchet men. He will face that up here, regularly. In fact, he will be targeted. Again, no one is suggesting that he shies away from that sort of confrontation and we all know he will thrive off it but the simple reality is that his body works different from others and one bad tackle has the ability to put him out of action for months on end. That can happen to any player but it's far more likely to happen to him.

Again, you're just ignoring or failing to address the very real issues he has with fitness. You're just casting it aside like it's no real issue then understating it with suggestions of him being out for a month. He's been out for 7 months in 2024 alone. He was out for 5 months in 2023. These aren't small instances of injuries. It's long term injuries that are consistent with each other. His body is breaking down, it happens to players and the likelihood is that we played a part in that, by playing him injured for so long. Have our management and our staff never gotten anything wrong? Using the arguments about Staff/Manager/Club having a more informed opinion on players and whether or not they can manage him is a pure ridiculous argument to make, especially when the very management team and our staff have gotten things wrong in the past. You seem to suggest we should be wrapping him up in cotton wool and playing him when we really need to but if he was signed this season, he would have missed 6/8 Champions League games.. you can't pick and choose when a player with a horrendous injury record gets his injuries. Again, it's a ridiculous argument to make. In fact, if we can get through games without him, like we have shown already this season, why not bypass the signing altogether and sign another upcoming left back in Europe somewhere who is performing exceptionally well and isn't ridiculously injury prone? There are plenty out there if you scout properly.

Having money in the bank and being cash rich is because we are a financially prudent club who run the club effectively. We showed in the summer, for the first time in a good few years I would say, that we were willing to go all out and sign players for big money. Now, if we are willing to go out and offer £25k a week to someone and we are cash rich, which is universally accepted, there is no reason why we cannot go out and sign a left back from somewhere, who is young, experienced and willing to come and play for the club, in a similar mould to Kieran Tierney. Spending £1m a year on a player who is very likely to be injured for large spells of that seems financially imprudent.

I have absolutely no idea why you're going on about Alex Valle. I haven't even mentioned Valle. It's a completely separate argument to KT signing. In fact, I'm not even sure where I stand on signing Valle on a permanent deal. So again, why are you using a fake Alex Valle comparison, that has not come from me, to attempt to bolster your argument on signing KT. I was nearly having a * stroke attempting to read your reply but using arguments that I haven't used is genuinely mental and it's not the first time you've done it in these exchanges. In isolation, I'm not against signing Alex Valle and I think Greg Taylor should move on. I think Alex Valle should only be signed as a player to come in and play to rest a first choice left back and he's still young enough to improve and get better. So, I can at least see the positives in signing him but I don't think we should be signing him to be first choice. I want 2 left backs purchased and i think we should go all out for someone at left back, from Europe somewhere.

Your football manager comparison is actually a good one but not in the context you're suggesting. You're right. This isn't football manager. This is real life and the very real life situation has been that Kieran Tierney is an absolute crock who should be absolutely nowhere near this club again on any sort of guaranteed salary. Will he accept a pay as you play deal? Unlikely but it's about the only reason I would give him any sort of contract at the club.

You keep on talking about John Hartson and Craig Gordon as some sort of equivalence to signing Kieran Tierney. None of those 2 players had the same situation as Tierney. Hartson wasn't even that injury prone before coming here, by the way, he had a failed medical at Rangers because of match fitness issues. He never had continuous injuries. Craig Gordon did have injury problems, with two knee ligament injuries back to back that kept him out of football for 2 years. He had to show a full year of fitness though, training with us for 3 months before getting his contract and he trained with Rangers for 3 months before he trained with us.
