Aiden McGeady began brightly and was unfortunate to not give Celtic the lead when his powerful right-foot effort came back off the upright. Celtic were again denied after a brilliant, one-handed save by Chris Smith denied Maciej Zurawski after he was expertly set up by Petrov after a fine move.

Experienced Bulgarian full-back Ivaylo Petkov has arrived in Glasgow and a deal should be concluded for the player by Wednesday. The 30-year-old who is available on a free has began training at Celtic Park after leaving Turkish team Ankaragucu. Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has stated that Petkov is not on trial and that this period is purely about getting to know each other and the squad.
Representative Martin Reilly who claims that Galatasaray, Hertha Berlin and Willem II are also interested in his clients signature said: "There's no doubt Ivaylo is a quality player, but we will need a decision in the next couple of days. We know he has the quality to be an asset to Celtic."
It is vital that Celtic boost their squad by signing a left-back with the Champions League looming. Stilian Petrov looks set to become Martin O'Neill's first signing as manager of Aston Villa when the Northern Irishman is, as expected, named as their new boss this week.
The Bulgarian international shared a good relationship with O'Neill when he managed Celtic and helped the player grow to become the quality player he is today.
Now O'Neill and Petrov will be hoping to re-unite in time for the start of the new Premiership season.
But Celtic will be holding out for £6-7 million for Petrov - money they hope can finance deals for a much needed striker and left back.
Also heading south is winger Ross Wallace.
The 21-year-old will train with Birmingham City this week after being given permission to find a new club.
