Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is rumoured to be considering a move for Borussia Dortmund's swiss striker Alexander Frei.
Frei has been in good scoring form this season even though Dortmund are currently struggling at the wrong end of the Bundesliga.
He moved to Dortmund from France for £3 million, and with Dortmund in serious financial difficulties the potential transfer fee would not be beyond the reach of Celtic.
The german giants were declared bankrupt in 2005 and relegation from the Bundesliga could spell the end for a club which won the Champions League as recently as 1997.
With Celtic, and particularly all their strikers struggling for goals, Frei could be the solution to all of Gordon Strachan's problems. His departure from Dortmund could spark a bidding war, but it is understood that Celtic aim to be at the front of the queue should his club drop out of Germany's top flight.

Celtic centre back Gary Caldwell could make his return to football for Scotland at the weekend.
Caldwell picked up a serious knee injury in November last year and has not featured for Celtic since. But Scotland manager Alex McLeish has not ruled out using him in the crunch Euro 2008 qualifier at Hampden Park on Saturday.
Scotland assistant Andy Watson said....
"We have to look at the players who have been regulars in the team and assess their form and fitness levels"
"We also have to look at the Georgians, assess their strengths and figure out who we need playing against them."
"Gary is here in the squad and I'd like to think anybody in the squad has a chance of playing."
Fellow centre back and Celtic team mate Steven Pressley was red carded in the previous match in the Ukraine, so he misses this match through suspension.

Celtic and Scotland defender Steven Pressley has warned the chasing pack in the Scottish Premier League that the club will put their recent poor form behind them and clinch the championship at the earliest opportunity.
Despite two defeats, Celtic still hold a commanding 13 point advantage over Rangers with only seven games left to play. They only require 3 wins to retain the league flag.
"When you play for Celtic you are expected to win every game - that's the pressure that comes with the job here."
"Darren is a fantastic prospect. He's a young lad with an old head on his shoulders."

Scottish Cup sponsors Tennents must have breathed a huge sigh of relief after Celtic and Hibs were kept apart in tonights semi-final draw.
Celtic will play St.Johnstone and Hibs will face Dunfermline in the 2 games to be played on April 14/15.
Saints booked their place in the last 4 with a win at Fir Park over Motherwell last night. It was their 4th SPL scalp in both domestic cup competitions this season. A run which included a win over Rangers at Ibrox.
Celtic have won the cup a record 33 times, and are odds on favourites to make it 34, but Gordon Strachan cannot take the first division side lightly.
