Sorry to be a harbinger of doom but I am not convinced that he'll definitely be with us next season. My concern would be his wages. I suspect that Man City are paying a share of them during the loan period but if he signs permanently then obviously we'll be picking up the whole tab. Do you think we'll match his wages ? Will he take a pay cut to remain with us ? Will other offers come in if he plays well for us and makes the Greek squad for Euro 2008 ?

I am not convinced this is in the bag for us.

I don't know what he's earning at Man City. But I don't know if we are going to pay wages as high as Bobo's anymore anyway.

It's obviously early doors but so far the signs are good. If he keeps this up I'd hate lose him.

I would hope terms would have already been discussed and agreed .If he cotinues to impress then we should try and tie him up quickly, However if we cant afford his wages this can only be seen as a short term fix and maybe bit pointles.

Charlie Nicholas said today he's on 24K a week, if he does really well I think we'll try and sign him well before the summer. The fee's agreed with Man City so it's up to him, so really I don't know whether he'll stay or not but hopefully he'll enjoy it so much that he will

Guys like Samaras would be on 15-25k per week in the EPL, if we can go as high as 35k for Boruc then perhaps we can stretch for Samaras provided he does the job for us. Basically this loan is to determine whether he's worth the wage.

You haven't read my initial post properly. I make it clear that I am asking this IF he performs. I am asking if wages could scupper the deal IF it goes well.

If he continues to play the way he did when he came on then I would get in there and sign him. Looked good yesterday.

Dont think there will be a problem if celtic want to sign him and he wants to stay at celtic.

Just wait till he gets a taste of CP! then the guy will ask WGS for the contract and he'll sign straight away! it was nice to see him going towards our fans with his hand over heart at Killy! I'd make him top earner at Celtic if need be! the guy is very very good and will only get better! with 60 000 fans calling his name.... I can see a new Larsson here guys! 22 and already one of former European Champions main strikers! Thers only one georgy samaras.....!! lol

I'm paraphrasing here but Peter Lawwell said: "We'll have super-stars in the team, we'll have good players in the team and we'll have youth in the team." So to me that would suggest there's a pay structure in place to support the three different types of players PL says we'll have at Celtic.

If indeed Samaras turns out to be in the bracket of super-stars then he should receive wages to match. There's no way Boruc has signed to 2011 on 12k-15k a week, I don't buy that. So I think there's every chance Celtic could afford his wages.

Where I see the problem, and it's already been said, is if Samaras has a brilliant four or five months at Celtic and does well in Euro 2008, there'll be a queue to sign him up. That's where it'll hang in the balance IMO.

@ stevo.... thats why we have first opion to buy! there will already be a figure on the table! hopefully in a contract so they can't up the price! I can't see him going back to city due to the fact they are trying to buy other strikers....heres hoping anyway! I do hope that we get signed like we did with boruc to fend of other clubs!

    spot on :50:

Let's wait and see if the guy is any good before we start flapping over him. The test, as ever, will be against Barca and the dirty dozen.

That's not what the thread is about. The word 'if' appears in the first post and I think it's a given that the points being made by folk in this thread are all about 'IF' he does well.

We've lost out in this type of situation before therefore I think it's a reasonable topic for discussion. If you don't, fine, just let us discuss it.:50:

have u seen a handsome hun
cant judge a guy on 17minutes......think of larssons debut.

and jvoh scored on his debut and his performances are so up and down he shood be nicknamed the trampoline.

all that can be said was that he scored a fantastic goal and we are looking forward to the next installment of his celtic career.

Ok, my point is simply i think its a bit early for the discussion, as it would be for all the new guys.

    He certainly looked useful though.

'IF' he does well, I would like to think Lawell would have secured first refusal on him, but we'll see.

I think it will all depend on the money on offer. If he is on £20-25K a week,we should be able to offer that.If he runs riot up here and EPL clubs start sniffing around, the wages they are able to offer would probably rule us out.Remember Craig Bellamy?

I thought a deal had already been struck for us to sign him at the end of the season if we want to keep him.

I suppose it depends on who might want him at the end of the season. But if a big club comes calling at the end of the season then hopefully that means he's been banging in the goals for us between now and May.

If he does that and we win the SPL, I'd be happy even if he decided to go elsewhere.

The difference between this and Bellamy is we have a transfer fee already agreed with Man City so really if we want him it's up to himself if he wants to come or not
