    Bit of a rant but it's something I've noticed here and other forums, and it's kind of annoying me.

    I just want one thing to be clear - Wikipedia is not a reliable source. At all. Ever.

    I often see posts saying * like 'uh derp Wikipedia says he signed fer us!'. Here's a little secret - I could go on to Wikipedia and edit a page to say that McGeady has signed for Aston Villa for £25m. It wouldn't make it true. It would probably stay that way until someone else thought to edit it though, and I'd place some money that someone, on a Celtic or Villa forum would post saying '*, McGeady to Villa for £25m, WIKIPEDIA said it, SO IT HAS TO BE TRUE!!!?!?!!!'

    The above is especially true given the propensity for mischief making OF fans to go and extract the urine on various players pages. The smart ones will edit players pages to include information that you're not quite sure whether it's true - I was browsing MAF's wikipedia the other day and saw that he is apparently best mates with Boys Noize!

    Anyway - not wanting to start a fight with anyone - just wanted to make certain posters aware that Wikipedia can be edited by everyone and anyone, and often is. So keep that in mind :)

    It is reliable and it isn't. I would never trust some statistics (though football ones are generally correct) from there or anything that hasn't been officially confirmed.

    Are we talking about Wiki in football or out of it ? cos i find it useful for researching places and stuff

    Aye - I mean if you're wanting some quick info on some historical event it's usually alright - and if stuff has a trustworthy citation then it's usually decent. It's more just things to do with football, transfers especially.

    In fairness a lot of it is spot on. It's just controversial subjects, celebrities, towns etc are often abused :p Transfer rumours generally end up on the site as well as fact.

    Sorry, you must be right. I'd forgotten that when you put ' fact' after a statement it means that it had to be true. ( This also applies for ' end of')
