Why was Boruc deteriorating in goal?

boruc for me was just a "good" goalkeeper for celtic,he made mistakes"blunders" like anyone before him ,he also made great saves "at times" but as i said i rated him at best "good"

i sometimes wonder why a lot of people call him a legend ,i dont hold him up there as legend status.

Boruc was best keeper in my life time!!!!!

Think he made few blunders but he saved us a * of a lot more than he cost although he made more in later years i would be a bag of nerves playing behind the back four he did

I thought he was the best keeper we had since Simpson to be honest.

I think he just had a bad season. ALL OF OUR PLAYERS had a rotten season last season (except maybe Keane), Boruc included. Its like no one was really immune to the bad football that plagued over Celtic in 09/10..

Like most he prob got fed up playing the same * year after year, therefore his levels of motivation and interest weren`t as before. Haven`t seen the picture posted but I assume you refer to his physical condition, the only person that can influence this was Boruc himself. More to do with the player than the coaches.

 

Boruc was a loose cannon from the very beginning, thats how he is.

 

I think this just proves how much the 'legend' term is loosely thrown about, celtic_jorge, how on earth was Boruc a 'legend'? He was a good keeper dont get me wrong, but youd put him up there with true legends i.e. Larsson/Jinky? No chance.

As tim park said, he made blunders and good saves like any other 'good' keeper. The best keepers out there minimize their mistakes, the last few seasons Boruc was making them week in week out.

Why was he deteriorating? IMO it was due to not having a decent back-up who could challenge him for the number 1 spot, he got complacent knowing he would keep the no.1 jersey no matter how bad he played, I also think the Arsenal/Milan rumours turned his head.

You have to wonder why people hold him in such high regard, and the conclusion ive come to is that if he hadnt of blessed himself infront of the huns, or done all the other anti-rangers stuff, then a lot of these fans wouldnt rate him as highly.

Like I said, good keeper yes, legend? Youre having a laugh.

I have a feeling that along with lack of competition, his personal life seriously interfered with his attitude to training and playing. His physical and mental condition over the past couple of seasons wasn't as good as it could/should have been.

 

If fiorentina can get him whipped into amazing shape then celtic should have tried alot harder!!

Frey is a legend over there and was meant to be out the door in the wondow that just shut.

Boruc's ability isnt the problem. Its where his head is at that is

I have heard from pretty reliable source that he would have been happy to stay given the right contract that the club had no intention of giving him as the wanted the money for him

and? frey is a world class keeper too and is slightly better than boruc.
