Can see Ian Cathro being in the frame if Newcastle get relegated.

Moyes didn't exactly rule us out.

I think Moyes is hoping to go back to Everton next season.

    Keeping his options open though.

I really hope it is Lennon. He's made for the Celtic job.

    I don't.

In his interviews of late he keeps talking about wanting a club that he can win trophies with and has ambitions of playing in the CL.

No chance he's going to Everton.

I didn't interpret Moyes interview as a definitive no, for what it's worth.

Not convinced Moyes is coming after watching that, or even thinking about it.

Lennon basically begging for the job, hope we go for Moyes or Rodgers!

I think Moyes played it very smart. He has left the door open to all possibilities.

i feel like he suggested that there are a few options potentially availible to him and this will surely force the boards hand to make a move.
The fact that he praised our stature and fanbase suggests he would listen to an offer. But Moyes would be an interesting one as other job offers would provide leverage for him and he wouldnt be able to be bossed by Lawell and DD.

I just think if he was genuinely interested in the job he would have answered yes rather than avoiding the question without being disrespectful.

Rodgers will be heading back to Swansea i think and Moyes will be heading to an English team. The board wont pay their wages nor give them the transfer budget they will demand...Rodgers especially.

He is keeping his options open. I think he would listen to an offer as if not, then all that flattery was totally uneccessary. If he said not interested, he may have burned a bridge and a better job may not arise between now and the end of the season. He has bought himself time to assess what options become availible.

Either way, its going to take an attractive offer to lure him and for that reason, I dont think he will be the man. Which is ashame because I think he is what we need. And ontop of that, he is a Glasgow man.

I don't have any issue with Moyes answers - he's clearly keeping his options open and that is the sensible option for any professional.

Frankly, I don't want Lennon back and I'm pretty disappointed in the way he's behaved - it smacks of desperation. The truth is that he thought he would be a bigger draw than he was in England (I really think he thought he would walk into the Norwich job at the time). The Bolton job was a nightmare for any manager but it's all he could get. He needs to get a smaller club job and prove himself - good luck to him but he's not right for us - and we really need to get this one right!

If we get a manager who is currently free - there is nothing stopping us telling the world that he will officially start on June 6th (or whenever RD leaves) - it would be unprofessional for them to come to CP or Lennoxtown before they start but it doesn't stop them assessing the team and players they want in/out.

The only way I want Keane is if he came as a package with MON - unlikely and you still have the issue of them being unavailable until after the Euros.

I hope its true that we are already talking to candidates - as we have only 6 weeks from a new manager being in position (assuming thats the first week in June) to the second CL qualifying round when we come in.

We can't afford to be scrabbling around in mid June and end up appointing a second best candidate just to get someone in place.

There is literally nothing in that wee interview piece that ruled himself in or out.

I'm not enthused by him at all though. I've never got this huge desire to appoint him. I don't think there has been any time in his career when I thought he was an excellent or exciting manager. Safe pair of hands maybe but nothing great. The Scottish Tony Pulis, honestly he is.

Mealy mouthed pish from Moyes. Basically saying I want something good in England but if I get the knock back Celtic would do.

Neither Moyes or Rodgers would be particularly inspiring and we won`t pay them what they would be asking anyway so won`t happen.

I think he deserves a bit more credit to be compared to Pulis. He performed probably above any realisitic expectations for a club of Evertons size and relative financial might in that division. In the premier league, at that time, was a tough thing to do.
He delivered european football and got the Man Utd job on merit.

I really don't think he does mate. They both did decent jobs at one of the lesser clubs with Pulis probably having the harder task at Stoke. He brought Stoke up, consolidated their PL status & also delivered an FA Cup final & European football. Since then he saved Crystal Palace from relegation & has done a decent job at West Brom.

I honestly don't think Moyes would fare that much better in the PL at the moment. They're a safe pair of hands. Nothing great. I certainly wouldn't want Pulis here & I don't want Moyes either.

How is it basically saying that?

You are just twisting it so that it suits you:smiley-laughing002: Just because he isn't coming across desperate like Lennon people seem to be taking offence here. Afterall Deila hasn't left yet, whether or not the announcement has been made is irrelevant.

Most of this will be done behind closed doors so I don't blame Moyes at all.
