Miller, Zurawski, Maloney and Riordan are not blessed with height. I don't think Beattie is Celtic class and Jarosik looked more accomplished (and is needed) in midfield. I think it was a mistake to sell BBJ but we have to move on. Know anyone who would fit the bill?

Celtic as a whole are lacking height. We do need someone who can ruffle a few feathers up front. it will be very hard to find any that come near what Hartson and Sutton were like.

    * is "Celtic Class", that term does my f...ing head in, dreamt up from those * phone-ins by people on a mission to undermine.
When I think of some of the diddies through the years who have played for us, just what exactly is it?

Think Beattie could do a good job given the chance of an injury free season. But I agree on the fact that we need some height up front. Our defence seem uncapable of playing simple passes so we need someone to knock down or flick on their long balls.

I assumed Strachan was getting rid of Hartson so that we would play a different style of football. Hope he is not making the same mistake John Barnes did by thinking you can make average players play like Brazil?.

Strachan doesnt wanna go with height up front..
that was Mon . hes putting his own mark on the team - style of play. Strachan wants to play football ball into feet with all Pace upfront.

I don't understand how half of you thought we should sell BBJ, and now that he's gone, you want someone to replace him. We don't need a physical presence upfront. If Strachan wanted one, he would have kept BBJ. We need someone who is willing to work upfront, and share the work with Magic. I think Beattie fits the bill perfectly. If he is given one full season to play, given he avoids injury, he will get 25 goals easily.

The strikeforce is crying out for a big striker. If we sign another player with no physical presence to play up front then we will be one-dimensional. We need a variety of options.

The mentality that this fast passing to feet tactic will win every game is flawed. A team who can adapt to the weaknesses of the opposition will win every game and the only team who can do that is one who has all the options to make this possible.

i think the whole idea is that celtic are gonna keep the ball on the deck a little , the high balls and knock downs where martin o'neils tactics ,GS is playina different stylr of football now more movement with more passes into space etc .

I think that it is a good thing and I am all for some of the "sexy football" that we saw glimpses of last year, but it doesn't mean that you just cease to have a target man. It is essential to have someone with some presence given that most centre backs are 6'+ and built like the proverbial brick *.

Think this guy Nugent would be ideal for us never mind Blackburn!!

David Nugent is one of the names in the frame as Rovers boss Mark Hughes steps up his search for new forwards

The highly-rated 21-year-old made an immediate impact in the Championship after joining from Preston from Bury in January 2005 and although he struggled with injury last season still scored 11 goals.

Ewood Park supremo Hughes wants at least one and probably two new strikers after losing both Paul Dickov and Craig Bellamy this summer.

for its a grand auld team to play for
Larsson wasnt tall, what we need is a hard mobile worker that has fitba talent, and can get support from others that need to be playing their part, after all sports fans its a team game.
I am on record saying that it was time for Sutton and Hartson to go, and thank * they are gone, for a number of reasons that I have already expressed numerous times over time!
Height is fine if the player is able, let me ask anyone that thinks height is the answer, how tall was Dublin, and was he the up front player needed?
