Which players should go over summer?

Once the transfer window opens, there are players that I believe should leave. JVOH and Hartley's performances yesterday (along with others I've seen from them this season) have convinced me that they're not good enough any more. Both have made good contributions to the squad while they've been here, but I can't see them being as useful or as good as we need them to be next year. I think Hartley's legs are past it. He really seemed to be struggling in the 2nd half.

I know Jan nearly scored with one header and was unlucky with another yesterday, but he didn't contribute much else.

Donati is another player that we all know will be leaving. He has talent but I don't think his game is suited to the way we play in Scotland. That's not surprising considering he spent all of his career in Italy before coming to us. They get more time on the ball there.

Balde should have been gone long ago and I'll be happy to see him leave. I don't know the exact reasons as to why he has stayed at Celtic, but I don't really care now. I just want to see him go and then see some more of the wage budget freed up.

I have a feeling Mark Brown will be leaving too. Probably on loan to a lower league English side.

If we manage to sign another left back, then I'd sell Naylor. If not, then I'd keep him unless Misun is deemed to be ready for first team action.

get rid of Donati and Balde aswell, no need for them anymore.

 

There are problably others too. Wilson does us no good sitting in the stand every season although when fit is quite good. Same with Kennedy.

Conroy will never break into the first team now.

 

Why samaras he has proven he can score when in form

 

to be honest i think the players who will / may leave are obvious and i just hope we get the chance to sign some decent replacements

 

Definites to go for me would be: M.Brown, Balde, Doumbe, Hartley, Flood, Donati, Hesselink and Killen. Theres a couple that i had to think about like Hartley and Flood but i think we have better or could get better.
Along with those I would let Cuthbert, Mick, Sammy and Naylor go if we received the right offers, otherwise they would do as squad players.

No matter what happens this season, we need freshened up for next, wether Strachans in charge or not. For me the first 11 should be built around Boruc, Hinkel, Caldwell, Brown, McGeady and McDonald. Players like Loovens, Crosas and Maloney are good players but i'd have them on the bench and find better alternatives for the first team.

 

I'd keep Hartley, decent squad player. The others mentioned should go though, Killen also.

 

Balde, Hartley, JVoH and Nakamura's deals are all up. They can all leave for free, that is a substantial amount in wages.

Killen, Donati, Brown and Doumbe wont get games for the club. They could all leave but i wouldnt expect to get much for them.

I would keep Naylor unless we get a left-back. There are other players who arent great but if we dont get replacements then we cant really sell them.

SO with those changes the squad would look something like this:

Goalkeepers
Boruc, Zaluska

Boruc is no.1, Zaluska is back-up - simple.

Defenders
Hinkel, Caddis, Wilson, Naylor, Misun, McManus, Kennedy, Caldwell, Loovens, O'Dea, Cuthbert

Kennedy could go really, and OCuthbert may be back out on loan again.

Midfielders
Mizuno, McCourt, McGeady, Maloney, Robson, Brown, Crosas, Flood

Not great strength in depth there, this area would need adding to.

Strikers
McDonald, Sheridan, Samaras, Hutchinson

Again, not great strength left up front, only McDonald does it for me. The other 3 could go really, so i can see us bringing in a few strikers.

 

I agree that Wilson spends too much time out injured. I do rate him when he's fit and I would like to see him given a chance in the Scotland team. I don't think he will go though as I've read on more than one occasion that Strachan rates him highly.

In regards to Conroy, would you say the same about Mike McGlinchey?

JVOH - Useless unless we play to the bylines. The guy has no pace and can't hold the ball up. McDonald can do everything that JvoH is supposed to do and more. Target man striker should be priority this summer to compliment Skippy.<o></o>

Balde - Needs no explanation. byeee<o></o>

Naylor - I don't care what anyone says. He may be trying his heart out but the fact still remains he's still a liability. Constantly cought out of position at back. A new LB like Sylvinho or Castillo would bring balance back.<o></o>

Donati - Not a bad player. Just can't adapt.<o></o>

Hartley - Old, past it. One footed. <o></o>

M.Brown - With Zaluska coming in the summer he will be surplus to requirments.

 

i agree with everything paulmitchell07 just said there plus john kennedy guys like him and donati balde doumbe killen they are taking wages for doing * all.

Yes, there would be another list of reserves who will never make it at Celtic such as McGowan and Sheridan.

 

I've read people stating that the type of player Sheridan is needs time to develop. It'll be interesting to see how that turns out.

 

Interesting isn't the word I'd use for him lol. He's one of the worst strikers I've had the pleasure of seeing with a Celtic strip on. He's got a fear of the game when he plays and can't even make it into the Motherwell team.

Lets just look at other options please and get the biscuit tin open for once.

 

These players should leave:
Mark Brown - not even nearly decent backup
Naylor - I want him to leave, but only if we get some replacement for him
Balde - wage-eating pensioner
Wilson - never getting a chance here
Doumbe - same as Wilson
Kennedy - doesn't have the potential to do well at CP
Hartley - his legs are getting tired and heavy
Donati - ...
Naka - he shouldn't leave, but I'm just reminding that he's off next season
JVOH - he is needed in Roda, NEC or NAC, not here
Samaras - we can get some money for him and get a replacement (or simply put Hutch or Sheridan in)
I don't know much about our youngsters or reserve players, but many of them just won't make it here.
