Where Would Faddy Fit In?

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Markybhoy, Oct 13, 2011.

  1. Assuming that the deal for James McFadden goes through, where do you see Neil Lennon using him in the Celtic team?

He is quite a versatile player so there are 2 or 3 different options as I see it.........................

    Up front beside Gary Hooper?
    In behind Hooper & Stokes?
    On the left wing?

He might end up playing in all these positions at one stage or another but which position do you think would be the main position Neily would use Faddy in?

  2. Knowing Lenny, probably centre half:56::50:

  3. Wherever he's needed but I reckon left midfield would be his allocated position if signed .

  4. Left wing. Any money we have should go on a target man or CB

  5. Front three of McFadden, Hooper and Stokes. Kayal, Ledley and Ki/Wanyama behind them in midfield.

  6. He'll play where Kris Commons played last season.

  7. So don't take him because we need a CB or TM strange logic , this guy is free if fit could be the best player in the spl imo , we should always be striving to better the team with better players no matter what position they play

  8. Got to be left wing with Commons out of form and favour.

  9. outwide or may use him as an attacking cm?

  10. If we do manage to get Faddy on board it would definately be a great boost for the squad & the support. Immediately, he offers options as a wide midfielder, but even more than that, he is not adverse to playing the lone striker role, especially in Europe where he has been asked to do this in the past & this is something that Hooper clearly is not best suited for.

The only striker that it suits which we have atm & that 'can' (& I use that term loosely) play up front alone is Sammy, but the fact is, for whatever reason, Sammy looks like he has forgotten where the goal is, much less his purpose for being on the pitch.

Personally, I prefer him like a left winger because he has a good technic and a good capacity of percussion to go forward in order to score :50:

  11. If he comes I hope its on a pay as you play basis .

  12. Could play anywhere....

    McFadden Kayal Ledley Commons
    Hooper Stokes

    Forrest Kayal Ledley McFadden
    Hooper Stokes

    Brown Kayal Ledley Commons
    McFadden
    Hooper

    Brown Kayal Ledley Commons
    Hooper McFadden

    Kayal Ledley
    Forrest Ki McFadden
    Hooper

    Brown Kayal Ki Ledley
    McCourt
    McFadden

  13. He will play in an attacking line up, either just behind a front two, or as a second striker up top.

He can also genuinely play as a lone striker, something that our other strikers have difficulty with.

Still need a centre back, but this is a genuinely positive step for us. A multi million pound player? A player who has performed in the EPL? A player who has performed on the international stage?

Seriously, whats the problem. If he signs I am right behind him.

  14. It's interesting that most people are saying he'll play behind the front 2. That would mean Neil Lennon re-shaping the team and abandoning 4-4-2. I just don't see that happening.

I think McFadden's best position for Celtic would be up front.

  15. somewhere else.the bench probably.

  16. I would agree but I think our form is so poor this season, he might look to shake it up and go for a slightly different system.

I would like to see him play behind Hooper up top.

  17. I did not say I would not take him but I think we need to strengthen our weaknesses as a priority. He will still have to be paid a weekly wage and would more than likely be one of our top earners. So I would only take him if it was not to the determent of our defence and striking problems.

  18. ... bench!

  19. Said ages ago on here I would have took him on. My mate disagreed and said we wouldn't need him, which may be true, but as someones already said - we should always strive to better the squad by signing a better player if available. McFadden is a very good player no one can deny that. I suggested back when my mate and I had the discussion that I'd like to have him on board for Europe as I think he could do a job in behind the main striker, as Commons hasn''t performed well when deliberately placed there from the start on a couple of occasions, he does far better wide left drifting in. Don't think Faddy can still play in the group stages unless we didn't use up our full allocation when registering for the group phase though :54:
