I was listening to my PODCASTS last night, where the southern reporters were saying that a few papers have done big articles on the interest of a few English clubs for WGS.

This is not a thread to say if we want him to go or stay, but instead, who would go in for him and if they do, would he go?

I would think WGS would want to move on one day, but I think if he goes he would want a big job, which I am not sure would be offered.

Man U, sound like they will keep Fergie until next year, and I dont see WGS being in the frame, but MON and Moyes, which opens two clubs that I think would ask for WGS...Thoughts?

Strachan knocked back a few clubs at that level before coming up here, saying he didn't want to do the same things over and over again. So I don't know if he would take a lower level EPL job.

I think Villa would shoot for higher but Everton would like WGS, smaller budget, and he has proved he can dabble in that market.

What type of manager is he, I have trouble putting my finger on it, moyes likes the attacking ball on teh ground stuff, MON likes his teams to be hard to break down.
I want to say WGS is an attacking manager, but I think the games I have thought his tactics were best is when we have been underdogs and have played defencively, like the Man U games.

Middle of the league team but aye he would be in with a good shout for both the Villa and Everton jobs i would imagine he would be one of the front runners if they were ever looking for a new manager.

But it's the same as the players, down south he would have the funds, and the prestige.

He's a proper football man which is the main reason I love him. He won't get swayed by the money, or the "prestige" of the Premiership. He knows his stuff and he knows how big this club is. That's why he won't walk away to some midtable side. Even clubs like Aston Villa and Everton would have to increase their prestige in order for him to go there, if Moyes or St. Martin ever got the Man Utd job. Strachan's at least as good as both of them though, also has the advantage of some good results against United with us.

It's not the same as the players, with Gordon Strachan you have a man who has experience, who has seen what it's like down there and up here but most importantly you have a man with good principles and a pure love of the game, not the money or fame or adoration (or he'd have left here a long time ago).

Strachan's complained about it often enough himself, evidently he doesn't feel so attracted to the bright lights of the Premierleague in the same way. I suppose with experience you see how much of a farce that can be.

By the way remember the wee man is only on half the wages martin was on,so if money is on the agenda every team in the premiership could take him, also every team in the premiership and most of the 1st division have got a bigger budget than Gordan, how much i disagree with him sometimes,he is the right man for the job just now!:86:

If ferguson left man u, if rafa left liverpool, if wenger left arsenal, i believe WGS would be one of the first names on the list.....ffs why wouldn't he be, proven title winner, champs leauge experience, and a track record of success while dealing with serious budget cuts, I think we all should be worred about him being poached in the summer

I'd say that teams like Villa, Everton and Maybe Sunderland (ambitous board) would be the clubs that Strachen would suit/be interested in.

nail on head. He has lots of CL experience where we really punched above our weight twice. Very few of the other British managers can match that except the ones altready in top 5 EPL jobs.

I think the big 4 are settled now with there management team. Villa are happy with MON and Everton are happy with Moyes, so it does leave much room for any other team that WGS would want to go to.
When MON wanted to get back into management, he had to go to Villa. Now I felt he was good enough to go to any of the clubs in England but nothing else was available.
Walter Smith left Rangers to go to Everton when he had a big name, so I feel that's all that will be available for WGS.
In saying that, WGS will not leave Celtic, why would he want to, he is Scottish, happy to be living in his own country and working for the best club in the country.
The Media have been peddling his removal for a while now , I wonder why?

I may go on about our spending policy and give a moan or 2 about his tactics or even how bad our defense is, but overall, you can't argue about him being able to manage a football team.
