Think you can see very quickly that he is far more suited to this level than Taylor is. Felt he got left 2 v 1 at times first half as Maeda seemed to be getting dragged inside, but that got rectified second half and I don’t really recall him ever getting beat by the winger. Really growing into it now.

Exactly my thoughts. Maeda was all over the place today and not in a good way. Was a really strange performance from him.

An Atalanta player nudged him off the ball near the start of the match and I worried that they were going to target him. But not long after that the ball went to Bellanova out wide and Valle knocked him flying out the park.

He showed great strength all game and made sure they never had any joy down their right wing. Can't help but feel that Taylor would've been bullied all night and ended up giving away a goal if he was playing.

    Noticed that too.
He also made a couple of very smart “off the ball” interceptions, where he just slightly altered his position to block or slow a runners path.
Not enough for it to be a foul, but enough to stop the attacker getting on the ball.
Shows intelligence of a player of far more experience!

I think he was absolutely immense. He * all over Taylor.

Awesome, along with all other defenders.
Seems a player, good on the ball, not afraid to get a shot off and what an engine.

I think we can all see he has potential but Taylor is far far better than him at present.

Thought he was really good on Wednesday and today. For me at this point in time he's already better than Taylor.

Getting better every game, looking like a genuine contender to GT. Happy days.

Delivery for the 2nd was brilliant..for me no way does he lose his place to Taylor... settling in really well after a run of games..only going to get better.

Not a chance pal. Unfortunately people just hate Taylor. Taylor’s distribution and defending is proven over years, the young boy has a way to go.

Taylor is a rubbish defender. Good in the build up, though.

I don't see any reason to drop him yet even if Taylor is fit.

Played well again. Great ball for AJ goal too.

Taylor at this stage doesn't walk back in to the starting line up. They both now compete for it.

Good game today but also good to see him get a bit of a rest at the end as plenty of games to go.

Wonder if Scales going to LB is telling on how Taylors contract negotiations are going?

Taylor forward passing from midfield areas is very good, but Vale looks better at carrying the ball and crossing. And defensively I think Valle showed on Wednesday might he can handle a higher level of opposition than Taylor can.
