I know you will all laugh, but i think he would have been a great manager for us, but then, he aint celtic minded, he has experience, can motivate, is respected and has a good business head as well, he would have been worth a punt, what do you all think?

fair enough buddy, problem is, i honestly did think we were bigger than that, until we got TM, that was an eyeopener for me, i expected a big big name, and it turned out we took a third choice as manager....i was gutted when he was appointed, i was totally underawed....and suddenly i realised that we may not be as big as we had thought

I was furious when we signed TM because we could have gotten Slaven Bilic who has been in charge of the Croation National Team for the past 5 years or so and he would have been a great manager and he would have attracted a number of big name players and he has a great eye for young talent.

look at the big picture here, the board are responsible.they pursued coyle and martinez for a number of weeks (both mediocre managers),and when they knocked us back it was TMs turn to get pursued.they should hold their hands up and admit they were wrong and bullet him before he does anymore damage.

Don't think the announcement that Mowbray had been appointed had too many of us dancing in the street. Equally, I don't think if Brown had've been named it would've had me turning cartwheels either.

That was Stein's background too. Fans are driven by a lot of irartional stuff like the sectarian divide so their attitudes should not be a consideration IMO. I think listening to fans got us Mogga.

Craig Browns brother was Celtic director of football so why not him as manager. I actually think Brown is exactly the sort of highly organised technical coaching orientated gaffer we need. He was able to guide a very ordinary Scotland side to the WC finals and did not too bad when we got there. What we need and what the fans want are too different things. I think there are other like him. I call it the hard boiled pragmatic training ground kind of coach who is super organised. Wattie is one. In England Roy Hodgson is one.

Craig Brown is part of the problem that Scottish football finds itself in..

Even his girlfriend couldn't stand the guy's ego , says he was writing letters into newspapers under an alias , claiming what a great job he was doing for the country..

    You've surpassed yourself there..

Its always our bigots who start calling other s bigots, huns etc. Right thinking people wouldnt care. The background is irrelevant. As I said Jock Stein was from an orange, Rangers supporting Ayshire mining family.

a lot of competitive people have monster egos, cocky etc. Who cares. WGS was accused of it and although a lot of fans were blind to it MON has always been a bit of an ego too.

another point is he was doing a great job for the country. He was the last guy who got us to any sort of finals (WC in 1998). He made the team better than the sum of its parts which is the opposite of what Mogga is doing.

gunt , I would guess from reading your WGS love-ins that Brown would be right up your street.. Squad regression , an average age of first team player around 31/32 , dig over flair , experience over talent , hard to beat but boring to watch and very little for the poor guy who takes over the job from him , to inherit...

Is a hun a bad word by the way ? I always thought huns and tims went hand in hand but recently the easily offended on the other side needed an equivalent of taig for themselves to get mockraged by and the H-word is the one they have settled on..

And like the final season of Strachans which people forget , people also forget the last few of the Craig Brown era with Scotland where he failed to get us to both a World cup and a European championship before Bertie Vogts sailed in to take the blame for what was already a shambles in quick decline.. Brown had good players during his succesful campaigns , let's not claim otherwise..

It doesn't matter what a man's background is, its about the job he can do/has done. No one doubts Stein's contribution to Celtic, or Dalgleish's ability & efforts when he wore the Hoops.

Craig Brown may have done a job for Scotland, but apart from that the highlight of his management career at club level was to win the old 2nd Division with Clyde. Hardly a bellringer.

its becoming stark to me how many narrow minded bigots are in the our support. What a * shame that this club founded out of noble ideals has come to be a flagship for a lot of utter *

some as bad as the worst of the rangers support

It's only human nature bud. I don't think Celtic have ever claimed
a monotony of level headed fair fans.

As for Craig Brown he is a very capable manager of that there is no doubt,
but I would prefer to have Gordon Strachan back before him.

    Story

Me and PD88 (another TC member) were walking into Toryglen last Sunday to play a match with TalkCeltic FC when we saw this wee old guy in a trackie walking out towards us.

After a couple of chuckles, PD said to me 'hey haud on a minute, thats Craig Broon!' :56: :56:

I just said 'alright Craig?', couldn't think what else to say. :43: Coulda been a good photo opportunity if I'd had time to think.

Anyway, I don't think he would've been the answer. I backed the appointment of Mowbray but its clear to see its been a disaster and times up.

If he has any dignity left he'll walk. It's our worst team since 2000.
