A combination of dig and flair. Like the Strachan days.

So far we have * and pish.

11 guys playing for the strip. We don't have that.

Absolutely shocking performance, I've backed Deila to the hilt and even called him the modern day Stein based on the way he talks but I'm starting to think that's all it is. How can someone setup a team to not attack at home ground in front of a packed stadium. No communication between players either through the language barrier or just failing to cooperate with instructions.

Also does Deila have a thing for stokes? The guy was rotten but persisted in keeping him on and letting Griffiths watch from the side. Then basically dropping Commons. Absolutely pish man and now it looks like Virgil is away.

I'm off to cry myself to sleep.:54::52:

Honestly can't believe how bad Johansen has been lately.

We need a decent spine for next season. 2 decent CB's to replace VVD and Denayer when his loan ends, a ball winning mf and a couple of strikers.

Only those who are a combination of dig and flair.

    I want Camoranesi.

We need Scott Brown back and we need someone who can cover for him as captain more than we need a new striker.

Our problem is we haven't succeeded in replacing like-for-like and don't do it in a timely enough fashion:

+ Hooper out; Pukki, Griffiths, Balde, Berget, the kitchen sink in? Griffiths can do the business in the SPL but in Europe he's not being given a shot in favour of other players and it took us half a season to sign him with Kris Commons being the only * in the side able to find the net. Pukki and Berget aren't finishers, Balde isn't a footballer.
+ Wanyama out, Johansen and Biton in? Neither are anchormen! We're doomed in Europe without an able anchorman (Mulgrew doesn't cut it), as last season showed.
+ Only worthwhile replacement was Van Dijk for Wilson but I suspect we'd have signed him anyway to replace Major and other guys like Rogne (and might actually have done already; by the way I'd rather have Rogne than Ambrose).

Once we are considering offloading a player we should have a handful of ready-made replacements scouted and in the pipeline and be discussing these options. Once we start negotiating a player's exit with club 'X', we should be negotiating a new one's entry from club 'Y'.

It is especially important that this is done in a timely manner for key players as the team can't function without them. As it stands we take a gamble and do without (Wanyama) * about negotiating fees and sign complete duds not fit to lace the predecessor's boots (Pukki) or bring guys in on loan which isn't much of a risk and should therefore be done prior to people leaving if they're really worth signing (every signing this season).

Now we'll need to replace Van Dijk, although I suspect Lawwell will make sure via his new mouthpiece that we all know that that's why Denayer was brought in and bring in some dud who'll leak goals more than Sevco leak cash.

If Ronny had any bottle he'd have a kick at the board for not giving him a serious chance at this tonight and he'd transfer list everything that's deemed not fit for purpose. The board have failed him with their lack of spending, and failed us by not providing the manager with the means to get past Maribor and once again gambling with a £15M prize. The players bar a handful didn't show up tonight, although I also think we lacked the rub of the green and the tie could've easily gone the other way. This is irrelevant however – a positive result would've further papered over the cracks that Legia exposed.

A nice gesture to make up for this abysmal situation and to get the crowd behind the team in the lesser European competition would be free Europa League tickets for season ticket holders but like * that'll ever happen as they're more interested in a balance sheet than what's on the pitch.

YES! 100% this... we need heart and soul in the middle of our midfield, covering our defence. losing wanyama was our undoing, not hooper or wilson or anything else.
