This whole nonsense about the SPL clubs suffering terribly is absolute nonsense! First of all, Rangers tv money is going to be redistributed among the remaining clubs. There will be a vote with the SPL clubs that will change the voting structure to 9-3 and then a second vote will change the distribution of television money throughout the SPL - Celtic will ultimately take the hit. Then the SPL clubs will be able to manage themselves properly and not rely on one or two eggs to finance them in the dodgy basket that we call Scottish football, they will have a voting structure that suits them and a more equitable distribution of the television cash. Of course these are the bunch that got their way to go with Setanta and have mismanaged their clubs into a situation where their very future depends on the existence of a different company - not very well managed I would say and no amount of additional TV revenue is going to help that.

I think this is going to be the worst thing coming out of this fiasco :31:

Its already been said that the other clubs have been meeting behind celtic's back

With this new voting system celtic are always going to be out voted so everything voted in will suit the smaller clubs and not us

With this gate sharing thing is it legal for the other clubs to vote this in?

Especially as celtic is a PLC (business)

6 of the clubs in the SPL only played them 3 times a season normally. I don't see there being much of a loss.

We've always had the screw in Scotland, nothing will ever change that. I actually find it a minor miracle we won 43 titles in this place. But Celtic have a stand alone policy which means that we lure young players to the club on the hope of CL football and to get a Footballing education with a view to a bigger money move to the EPL.

The Scottish Premier League is a failed concept and it should be thrown to the gutter now. The dependance on TV money (even though it is a small amount compared to England) is stupid and suicidal. People say when Sky pull the plug on the EPL all the clubs will suffer to the degree of liquidation for half the league and Celtic can prosper but the same * is happening here in Scotland.

Time for a whole new change in ideas, one which does not involve Sky TV/ESPN. In the short term, the clubs should be putting money aside to create their own TV Channel instead of relying on Handouts from a company who dont give a * about Scottish Fitba anyway. The Eredivisie and Bundesliga are doing it right and we should follow them, not the EPL like we planned to do when we set up the SPL in 1998. Scottish football is dying, oldco's death just moved the process on a good 5-10 years.

To be fair - and remember its supposed to be a sport.

How could an 11-1 vote scenario ever be reasonable?

It is not in Celtic’s best interests to forfeit that kind of power.

If the other clubs do get more revenue then i would like to see clubs get better on the field, this can only be a good thing,by the time the newco huns come back, they might just have to fight there way past some stronger teams with more clout than them :celt_2:

the league will be in a better state hopefully

Without being selfish on our clubs position, that in itself stinks a bit.

I made a valid statement and I stand by it. How can a 11-1 majority be a reasonable voting structure to the benefit of all, which obviously we are part of - the Scottish FA, whether we like it or not.

Perhaps it's time to stop thinking in terms of "us & Rangers" and "the smaller clubs", and instead start thinking of it in terms of "all of us"?

Of course we'll see changes to the voting system. The current one in place is ridiculous and isn't democratic. It has to be changed.

We won't "always be outvoted". Why do you assume that we'll always be voting against the majority?

The problem is that if you really want to get to a league set up that is similar to Germany or Holland we need to share the revenue and rights more equally. Eredivisie this season had about 5 teams within a few points of the top of the league going into the last month I think. The Bundesliga seems to have new challengers every year. We dont have that in Scotland because there has been a duopoly over the last decade that has controlled income of the league.

I am not for gate share, but I do think an equal tv revenue share is fair. I also think if we want to play in a challenging league (which can only be good for us in the long term) we need to allow teams access to a fairer income stream. Over the longer term this would only have a positive impact on Celtic as if Celtic are 1/50 favourites to win the league over the next 3 years without any sign of change then people will simply stop watching.

Phil Taylor had won like 13 out of 16 World Titles, I still watched the darts!

Slightly different but i don't think we would stop watching just because we were guaranteed to win.

I do agree that with equal revenue share the quality of the SPL should improve but i don't think it'll be in the next 3 years.

We just have to enjoy winning while it lasts :50::icon_mrgreen:
