Simple question, was it a red?

For me, yes, he gave the ref a decision to make, the contact was minimal and Neymar milked it for all it was worth but Brown should have taken the yellow and walked on.

No, it was a clear yellow.

100% does not matter if the contact was not 100% the intent was enough for a red card.

I thought at the time that he was going to receive a red, so I'll vote based on that.

Neymar milked it all for all that it was worth, but who's surprised? Brown still gave him the chance to roll around and play act and subsequently got himself sent off. The very fact that he kicked him in the arm when the ball was nowhere near him suggests it's a red card. There was no need for the follow through, he just had to walk away after the initial foul.

    Yes.

As soft as a kick it was and even though it was to Neymar's arm even though he was holding his back after it play acting (which he was always going to do), it was still a kick and contact was made.

No chance, he brushed his leg, Neymar's reaction got him sent off. Gunnings kick on Van Dijk was harder but because Van Dijk isn't a dirty wee cheat, Gunning didn't get sent off.

That's a fair point but if he was going to do it deliberately make it count :smiley-laughing002:

It annoys me how a 50 million euro player has to cheat, and dive to beat a team of players who are supposedly far inferior to him. He's a wee *.

    I also agree with this.

I wish referees would play as much attention to play-acting as they do to challenges. Won't happen though.

I don't think we can complain, no matter how soft it was.

The big point for me is that Brown had already fouled the player. He should have just taken his yellow card and realised he'd given away a good foul as Neymar was away.

The fact he then decided to kick/flick the player gave the referee the opportunity to red card him.

If he runs past Neymar then he's still on the park. He chose not to.

I think it's soft, but can understand why the ref gave it.

Brown is totally at fault imo.

I can't believe the amount of owople saying its a yellow..

Intent,he kicked out at him,it's as clear as day..

That * was holding every part of his body that wasn't touched but it doesn't matter the ref watched him kick out..

Yes. A kick when you could clearly avoid it will always be a red.

Due to the sending off I haven't seen a replay of the actual foul but it looked to me like they came shoulder to shoulder and Neymar did his Jacques Cousteau.

The flick of the boot barely connected with the shirt never mind the player.
