If you think Jos Hooiveld is bad, then you're spoiled. Well, enjoy having Lovren.

Aye, cash doesn't equal good. Mind signing Tommy Gravesen from Real Madrid and him being kept out the team by Barry Robson.

Plenty of teams have risen up through the leagues in England spending plenty of cash along the way and hit their natural glass ceiling in the premiership. You'd be naive to assume that a few shrewd transfers will see you cement yourselves above anything other than an annual relegation fight.

I agree, it doesn't. But Southampton over the last 4 years have proven unlike QPR's owners they can spend large amounts sensibly. Improving infrastructure and a transfer policy of players under 24 with big potential combined with players from the academy. Luke Shaw will tomorrow be signing a 5 year deal.

To be fair, in an objective sense (i.e. if this guy wasn't a complete tool) I'd say Southampton have every chance of making it towards the Europa League places next year.

They were impressive under Pochettino last season and they will be far more solid this year with a young, up and coming team.

Yes, under a fantastic manager, with really good man-management skills.

As we all know, he was sacked and replaced with a guy who can't even speak English.

With the exception of a few players, they were still operating with the same team the Adkins developed.

Whether or not Pocket-tino's team will amount to anything remains a mystery...............

The manager is only one part of the club, an important part yes but the club is structured very well for any manager to come in and do a good job.

    That is simply not true.

They were impressive at times but also displayed a lot of naivety. They could conceivably qualify for the europa league but what would they gain from it? They would likely be playing reserve teams in europe and the financial gains are not enough to allow them to grow.

They are not going to break into the elite and the occasional top 8 finish punctuating perpetual relegation dogfights is, objectively, the most I can see them achieving.

They played better under Pochettino as well.

He also can speak English, he just said he can't so he didn't need to face a press that were furious on the behalf of Adkin's who was treated absolutely disgustingly by the Southampton board.

He was actually good for Southampton when they got him.

They finished 8th and a FA Cup final under previous ownership in 2003. That was without any real investment.

The current owners have put a lot of money into the academy, training ground, 1st team transfers and also have plans to increase capacity and develop the land around the stadium with hotels/restaurants/offices/shops.

They aren't just words you here from lots of provincial English clubs, a rise from 68th to 14th in 4 years, the training ground redevelopment near completion and the academy one of the best in the UK backs up their words with results on and off the pitch.

Don't blame him really, it's the 'structure' that Tes bates says they have in place that raped there former managers dignity after years of service to the club, bringing them up through the divisions and making them what they are today before disposing him like a * rag after a marathon YouJizz session.
