I know UFC has a small following on these boards so thought i'd start a thread for UFC 105 November 14 in Manchester, Live on ESPN countdown starts at 8pm.

Just a reminder of the card.....

    Main card

    • Light Heavyweight bout: Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera
    • Welterweight bout: Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy
    • Middleweight bout: Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang
    • Welterweight bout: James Wilks vs. Matt Brown
    • Lightweight bout: Ross Pearson vs. Aaron Riley

    Preliminary Card

    • Welterweight bout: Paul Taylor vs. John Hathaway
    • Lightweight bout: Terry Etim vs. Shannon Gugerty
    • Welterweight bout: Nick Osipczak vs. Matthew Riddle
    • Lightweight bout: Paul Kelly vs. Dennis Siver
    • Light Heavyweight bout: Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jared Hamman
    • Lightweight bout: Andre Winner vs. Rolando Delgado
Any specific fights anyone is looking forward to? Me personally it'll be Ross Pearson's fight remember watchin him on the ultimate fighter and became a fan also Dan Hardy always provides a good show.

He's boring as *. He gets on top of them and that's the end of the fight. Even Frank Mir couldn't get back on his feet in their rematch.

This event is annoying me. It's just down the road in Manchester, it's my birthday, and my * brother's going to it and didn't try to get me a ticket, ON MY BIRTHDAY! :31::31:

I'm away to cry in a corner.

But on the matter at hand. I can't wait to see Couture vs Vera cos the only Couture fight i've seen in ages is the one against Lesnar.

Hopefully Couture can come back to winning ways but i think Vera might be too much for the el' yin.

On the prelim card i'd most want to see Paul Taylor's fight. The guys solid. Last time he was fighting in the UK that i can remember it was an all UK match up and the two of them just came out and stood there banging for about a minute and a half solid.

It was epic and easily a fight of the night in a card that blew my socks off.

He does, but it's boring. He doesn't stand up, he'll throw 3 or 4 punches standing up, go for a takedown and thats it until the end of the round, unless he knocks them out or the ref stops it.

    True.
Lesnar is a beast and although he has been beat by Mir before,i think his overall game has improved and is going to be interesting to see who can defeat him next.

Celticbhoy.....if you are new to the mma scene i would recommend trying to go see some local shows, these are usually very good.

I think Couture is going to turn the clock back tonight and put on a show and win by k.o,also glad to see him back to light heavyweight.

Lesnar is absolutely awesome, I think he's the most exciting fighter in UFC history tbh. Who else is capable of breaking a fellow heavyweights orbital bone with one punch yet is almost as quick as a 100 metre sprinter over 60 yards despite being about twice their size. He is a genetic freak of nature.

From the fights on that card there it'll be interesting to see how Bisping bounces bakc after being knocked the * out off Henderson.

I too am of the few that are actually in awe of Lesnar. It is true that at this point in his career his size is his main tool, and IMO he would be beaten by the likes of Fedor Emelianenko, someone who is far too technically sound in all aspects of fighting for Lesnar to handle. But as his overall game improves (which it currently is doing, very quickly) I think he will eventually take the number 1 heavyweight spot from Emelianenko.

Btw, Lesnar is out of UFC 106, he has been suffering from a heavy flu and the fight with Carwin has been postponed until a later date I believe.

PS It might be a good idea to turn this into a general MMA thread for all discussions.

True, it was a pretty dull fight to watch. But I think the decision was the correct one. As soon as the fight started Couture began implementing his gameplan, and continued to do so for 3 rounds. Sure it wasn't great to look at, but if you look at what each guy's strategy, Couture's was put into action much better. Vera did not capitalize on his significant striking advantage.

I do, it's a good time. My picks last night absolutely sucked but that happens every now and again.

My state is in the beginning stages of legalizing MMA so hopefully there will be some shows here soon.
