Neil Lennon has been a great servant for us but his time is up . He has NEVER provided goals or assists for us however when he was at his best he was in the team because he was great at breaking up play and starting attacks . Now he is far slower we need a new midfielder ( Sidwell ) and this will hopefully unleash Hartley or Gravesen to get forward more often

I think Lennon is coming up to his sell by date, saying that

He has not been helped with chopping and changes in the middle of the park and has struggled with Hartley in the middle, As Hartley tends to bolt up the park and Lennon tends to have to pass the ball backwards which makes look ordinary so maybe theres another year in him?

I dont think there is another year left in him. i'd love it if he was just a bit faster and fitter because he has been a brilliant player over the years. But unfortunately hes not. Its sometimes embarassing watching him chase players and I think he knows it. But he has such drive and determination which is why he probably wont quit even if its for his own good

Neil Lennon has been one of our best performers this season, and as reward for the past 6?? years of loyalty he should get a years contract with the option for a further year. The man's a legend, some people just don't appreciate the job he does for us. :shamrock:.........

Sorry squire but you dont reward players for past glories. The glory was their reward. Thats the kind of thinking that MON used when he gave Thommo and Bobo bumper contracts when they should have been punted.

Lenny was a legend but he wasnt as good as Lambo IMO. He protected the defence AND also oozed class going forward.

Come on lads what's happened to you? I expected a bit more from yous!! lol

For the record, i am now of the opinion that Lennon should not be given a new contract next year. Sorry Legend, but i think you know your times up aswell :shamrock:

No way should he be given an extension, yes hes been a great servant but hes had his day and he should finish on a high, we're not running a charity here.

I would keep him about the club but not relying on him as much. He has bundles of experience and could be good to still have in the dressing room. The captaincy should be passed to McManus and Lenny taking a backseater, but we could call on him if injurys take their toll.
Thats how I would approach the situation but I doubt Lenny would go for it.

He has played average this season with alot of low points.

Should've punted him when GS took over

We should keep him though at the club but only as back up and mainly to help the yunger people come along good

I appreciate the job he has done for us , but even tho i dont want it i think he should be a squad plyer next season i.e bench as he rarely plays a forward pass and its hard to find a partner for him i.e him and hartely dont go well but graverson and hartley mite (ps i dont rate hartley)

His time was up last year... this season he should never have been playing. Each time he was suspended or not played celtic were a far better team, attacking wise and defensively...

I think time is drawing to a close on a great Celtic career for Neil Lennon. I would think it would be a good idea to keep Lennon as a squad backup player if that is something he would want to do a la Paul Lambert's last days as a Celtic player. I think his experience behind the scenes could be vital in that kind of roll next season. So I would be happy to see Neil Lennon stay on for another year in that kind of squad roll. But I do agree his time as Captain and day to day regular are at an end sadly.

M8 seriously thats nonsense, why not another 4 years? - Hes a legend after all!

I appreciate what hes done for us, but having him in the first team another year is a step backwards.

I hate how people think theyre more of a fan by not accepting his time was up last season.

Maybe as a squad player yes. But id like a quick, younger, holding mid that can play a forward pass and start an attack when needed for next season.

Carrying a legendary provo in our midfield wont mean success next season.

I think i remember the same old threads about this at this time last year and he has proven valuable again this year , although not at his best but still a good leader ..........Only WGS and Lenny will know what is going to happen ....and what can you do about it ?? not a lot i feel
