Tik Tok, the managerial countdown is on...

Peter Lawwell has given Celtic fans the strongest indication that 'we should see something in a week or two' about who will replace the ill-fated Tony Mowbray in the Celtic Hot seat.

If recent media circulations are to be believed then they would have you think that Neil Lennon is odds on favourite to be handed the mantel of snatching the SPL back from a financially crippled Rangers. A decision that splits the fans down the middle.

Lennon would take on an older head as a mentor

Lennon has aired his thoughts and indicated that if he were to be appointed manager then he would seek guidance from a mentor. As to who that may be, well the Celtic faithful will have to keep guessing.

To be fair Celtic fans can be duly forgiven for casting their thoughts back to the unfortunate Dalglish/Barnes fiasco when Lennon talks about bringing in someone else to guide him along the unforgiving Green & White road to victory. As he can be under no illusions of what demands the Celtic fans will place upon him should he get the reins.

Lawwell accepts his share of responsibility for the failed Mowbray era

Lawwell has asked for the fans to remain patient however, as he does own up for his share of the blame in the short and forgettable Mowbray era and certainly will not rush into an appointment for fear of repeating the last managerial mistake.

Whilst no one connected with Celtic will ever doubt Lennon's commitment to the club, it remains to be seen whether the former captain will be given the chance to shine, with his unbeaten league run including an Old Firm victory he certainly stands tall.
