A wee thread to get to the bones of this madness. Let's talk...also that's the doc and og on anaw noo...:smiley-laughing002:

Ronnie has done as well as he could, fairly, have been expected to do. Which is really well, when you consider where he came from and what he was thrust, head first, into in his first season in the job.

Some of the * folk have been saying on here has to just be the result of misdirected angst or frustration, which is fine but some folk are taking it all a bit too...mad. I dunno how else to put it.

Ronnie has given no one any reason whatsoever since he's been here to justify the kind of panic and * that's been on here the last few days. Not when you consider the context of what he's failed at and achieved so far. Some people are missing that out completely and it's totally unfair.
Celtic, the players and the management team, after their first season and a bit together have some * to sort out, absolutely, but all of them still deserve our full support, imo. :celt_2:

Try to stay positive troops! :shamrock::50:

At least we aren't another "big" club"... Long deid and playing in the championship under a deid name.... Hey we're still playing games in Europe, own our stadium outright, above water financially, have young and promising players... Its not all bad :celt_2:

It's all good but there is some major issues needing resolved and no-one can deny that, our squad is quite weak and full of bomb scares who are being played and relied upon. We really need to bring in some quality, ill go * crazy if we sign another player from a weaker side in Scotland because they play well against us once or twice.

Hope this gets locked up. Stupid options, we're in neither column. Definitely not a positive thread.

Think we have took a step back about 5 year the footballs garbage the formation is horrific and the managers no were near good enough to manage us, teams far to 1 dimensional everybody knows whos starting before kick off, all side to side stuff with 1 striker dropping, its going to take a horrible huns team to beat us in 1 of the cups or a aberdeen title win to open peoples eyes am far from impressed! We have got worse thsn last year.

Stupid poll. No middle ground. Why did players are unfit needed to be added to option 2?
    A stupid and meaningless poll.

I might well start a poll with options
a Are you happy to back Ronnnie and be out of the CL and trailing in the league
b Want to be in the CL and top of the league and are unhappy with the current manager.

Avoided the forum last few days cause of all the * threads you see after a couple of defeats. Once again we we're put in our place (Europa league) before the season started, and we have had another slow start in the league. This is precisely where we found ourselves last year, and the end of the season youdve thought we were shoe ins for CL final the positivity on here. It's far too fickle.

I have zero expectations for this Europa campaign (as the group is a very tough one) just as last year. The fact is, I don't see what more Ronny can do with the resources given to him, and there's not really an abundance of managers within our grasp who we could a point that would guarantee us more success. The league is a must, any run/win in Europe is a bonus, nothing's changed.

The manager AND the players could at least perform better than their counterparts on a much smaller budget like Aberdeen and Malmö.

We can forgive a slip up against Malmö and even against Aberdeen, but we must win the league. That is the only thing that matters right now and as things stand now, that is not a given.

Our squad isn't the strongest at the moment but I believe we have a lot of young talent. I just think we need perhaps one or two more experienced heads in with them. In saying that Brown and Johanson should be two of the main ones providing that and they've been gash since the start of the season.

Looking forward to Armstrong's development as I think he is a very good player already and can only get better. Griffiths has come on leaps and bounds, as has Bitton. I also think we might see the James Forrest that we were promised three seasons ago emerge as Ronny seems to have managed his injuries well and has him playing with confidence again. Hopefully Jozo will be a great buy as well.

Europe is a sickener, but it happened to Lennon as well, and Lennon had better, more mature, players at his disposal imo. We are constantly trying to gel new squads and it takes the one that has settled to make the push in Europe.

I suppose it does depend on how you word things...

It's one of my first polls incidentally, it tells you to keep it short and simple so I did.
In terms of having a middle ground option, I've not noticed much middle ground here the last few days. Plus ultimately, with or without (depending on your view) context taken into account, those two options include the most likely / popular opinions on both sides.

If you do what you've always done you'll get what you've always got. In the case of Ronnys' Celtic, that means we'll get away with it, or we'll get humped.

In domestic games we mainly get away with it. In Europe we mainly get humped. If Ronny stays we're going to need a lot of good fortune. I would suggest we replace JC with a black cat and replace JK with a rabbits foot.

The coaching won't be any worse but we might get more luck

The way I see it is I personally can't act childish if I have already signed up to the new philosophy Ronny promises to bring to this huge club with little funding. When he said he liked to develop younger players I agreed with that and knew it takes time, when he said we won't have much cash to splash on players because we don't have the TV revenue and we MUST budget within our means I agreed. When he said his ideal game is an attacking style I was pleased he understood this is fundamental at Celtic. When I seen his previous history I approved too so I can't just spit the dummy after one year when I'm not getting my UCL fix or we're not winning every game in our league. That latter point is pretty disrespectful to other professional footballers btw and they all try a bit harder to beat us.

So to sum up, it's bad news losing to Malmo yeah, not so much Aberdeen, we will still win this league. There are a couple questions I could ask about Ronny's motivation and team choice but I think there are more revealing things we could be asking ourselves, does he have a consistent squad who've played more than a season together? Do we love the long term idea of Celtic managers with an exciting philosophy to be given time rather than the winning at any cost mantra of the big money leagues? Big Jock RIP said 'Entertain'. Did we see some tantalising glimpses of technically exciting and swift attacking play last season, the kind of style that made us proud to be Celtic cause that's what we're all about? Do people learn more from their mistakes? I hate to drone on but there has been a lot of negativity similar to last season and we need to remind ourselves. I honestly think Ronny is an intelligent guy who can get our team consistently playing attractive football and I think he will learn from his mistakes and successes. I might be wrong but I don't think I'm wrong about giving him time. The first team needs to learn his ideas inside out and believe they are good enough. I especially think he needs time to sort the Development Squad so when he does leave we have a system in place any manager can source from. He is proven in this area. Anybody who is anything in life has always been given a chance somewhere along the line, you need that breathing space to get things slowly in place and experience/confidence is what lets that happen faster or more creatively. I don't mind gambling another season in the Europa next year, I'd much prefer to let his talent get the chance than chop and change managers every time we don't qualify for the UCL. Changing managers also means changing squads and it's just too much of an upheavel to be impatient about it.

I wish I could edit this post so it was much smaller sorry but basically I'm looking forward to some more stylish football again this season, I don't have high hopes about Europa but I never do in Europe and it's good sometimes to be pleasantly surprised.

We can judge Ronny Christmas 2016, by then the squad will be stable and completely his responsibility.

This place was buzzing the first half against Malmo, we played them off the park so the point is we're capable of doing it already this season. Mind you I'm not saying we'll do the same to Ajax, too much respect there but we might score first and anything can happen.

Nobody else think Ronnie has actually done better with an overall weaker squad (especially when he first came in), less money, less domestic competition (which is actually not a good thing despite the appearance that it should be easier, over time we've got naturally less sharp, on edge etc without a direct rival), harder qualification for Euro comps, etc. than some recent previous managers who had it made by comparison?
Context, it's a useful way of framing a thought or opinion.

I'd love Ronnie to be a bit more flexible with things like formation (changing the shape doesn't mean changing the style of football you want to play necessarily) or use his subs better/more tactically. To be fair Qarabag away showed he learned the lesson of not just going gung-ho, * for leather all the time
Nobody is perfect, he was thrown, literally into the deep end and he's coped admirably imo. He will understand what the problems are and I'm confident he and JC, etc. can sort it out.

Like others have said, the potential in our team is amazing, we just need to get them all gelled and clicking as a unit and we should be sorted and able to beat a team like Ajax with less fuss. :50:
