    Hi guys,

just wanting to know if anyone has actually been to the Parlour Bar in NYC?

I'm going to be in NYC for a while next month and wanted to catch the Hearts game there. Anyone know if it's a good pub to go to watch games?

    Any info would be great.

cheers for the info lads :)

Yeah remember paying $10 or so to get into a pub in Florida to watch the Aalborg game last year. Think it's cos of the crazy prices Setanta etc charge these places to get the games.

i think its cos they know we'll pay it. theres no way i was missing that game. funny thing was after we lost 1-0, me and my girlfriend went to a diner for summin to eat and i had my celtic top on and a spanish waiter started joking around with cos he was a villareal fan. i enjoyed it :50:

I go to the Parlour for most big Celtic matches.. Rangers/Euro ties/end of season fixtures or cups.. for the pub atmosphere. Your run of the mill games I watch at home on Channel 67 online. Was just there for the Arsenal match this week, which they didn't charge for because it was on Cable. But yeah, if it's on Setanta, which is 98% of Celtic games here, they charge a $10 or $15 cover.

It gets pretty full for Rangers matches, which is obvious but also because most people aren't working.. usually being on Sunday or Saturday, albeit 7am kickoff. Euro games being at 2:45pm.. middle of the workday on Tues or Wed.. gets a fair crowd all things considered.. but a far cry from wedged. If you can, you try to rearrange your work schedule to watch it live, if not, catch the replay that night on channel 67.

If you're catching a Hearts game, a crowd of 15-30 would be my guess. But as I say, I usually don't go for regular fixtures, so I could be off. There's probably about 10 screens, best one is centered behind the main bar.

So to answer your question: Is it a good place to watch a game? Yes. I'm from new york, so if there's a better place to watch them then, please, someone enlighten me! It's a dedicated supporters club, a number from the Celtic squad even visited a few years ago.. Petrov, Bobo, etc.

    HAIL HAIL!

Great bar to go to mate, been there for St.Patricks day two years on the trot and take part in their march. They may charge you a cover fee at the door though to get in (only on match days) but it's a great atmosphere in there.

Was in The Parlour 3 years ago St Patrick's. Nice bar with some Celtic pics around the place. Only thing I found was, it's a bit far uptown from where we stayed, although the underground gets you wherever you want to go in minutes. :50:

There are a couple of nice Irish bars near Broadway, in the old *'s Kitchen area. Cant remember what you call them. One had dart boards abd the other had a bar that was partly made of ice to keep you beer cold.

I'm just over the river but I never go to the pubs for matches because it does get pricey, thank * for more coverage on television; has it been hurting the CSCs? I know one guy who used to head up the Kearny NJ CSC.

Used to live in DC and watched a few games there, was ok but my impression is that any pub in NY is 10X better.

The Parlour is great, althoug I dont go much, I just watch it on cable, but as a Irish born but NYC raised bhoy I can tell you that theiir prices are very fair, the reoson that they make you pay a $10 cover for game on setanta is because it costs, with a basica cable pacckage for all the TVs there, Hundreds of Dollars per month, not to mention the tazes and licenses they must get to host so many people, but if anyone need directions on how to get their just email me at celticfc526@gmail.com , I might head up there myself if I can get off worl early enough
