  1. howdo troops?

am posting this thread to see what reaction it gets, ma faithers no much of a fan of aiden mcgeady and when me and ma brother are down watching the soccer on a saturday or a sunday, the auld yin does nothin but slate mcgeady, and shouts and balls " wan good game oot ae 7 or 8 doesnt merit a celtic jersey " and to this jibe ma brother hits the roof, av started to simmer in ye old age but, ma brothers backs up right away and goes bannanas, i know its only two games in but last season was the same carry on.

does anyone else see were he's coming from?

    p.s be gentle haha :shamrock::shamrock::shamrock::shamrock:

  2. Yes, i can see where he's coming from. McGeady loses possesion as much as anyone in our side which frustrates the life out of me. For some reason he gets away with it week in week out. However when he's on his game he can be unplayable. I just wish the manager would give other formations a go where i think McGeady would be more suited. I think he'll play well at the weekend against Falkirk at home (like he did last season). That's his type of game to shine in.

Believe it or not I rate the guy but he has to be more consistent to keep his jersey (especially away from home in CL).

    great post

i get really frustrated at mcgeady and have even more so at the start of this season has nobody noticed he is not hugging the touchline like he did last year he starts off nearly in the central midfield position so it makes it harder for him to make something happen and generally loses ball in that area

  4. Mebbe he loses possession a bit more than anybody else because that's our only gameplan, give the ball to McGeady, never mind the fact he has a duff full back behind him. It's a bit difficult for the likes of Hartley and Brown to lose possession when pretty much all they do is give McGeady a square ball or pass it back to Caldwell or McManus to hoof it long

He is a bit petulant. The guys gives away needless fouls and picks up too many yellow cards for my liking but he is still young and every player has their faults. There must be a lot of pressure on him to deliver goals/assists from midfield and that may be getting to him.

But he is a wonderful player and is lightyears ahead of most of the others in terms of ability. Im glad hes a Celtic player.

  6. Aiden has a strong desire to play in the middle. Growing up he watched videos of Maradona and dreamed of playing in the number 10 shirt and controlling the attack from the centre, like Maradona.

That's why I think he is not Number 7, he was probably offered it but turned it down as he is biding his time for the Number 10 shirt.

He says he's accepted his role is as a winger, but he probably drifts into the middle in the hope that Gordon sees something good and moves him inside.

  7. He looked great against Feyenoord in pre-season playing on the right of 5 midfield players. It gave him more of a free role with Brown tracking back for him when he lost possesion. That's the best game I've seen from him since Pittodrie last season.

Has anyone noticed that he seems to be better finishing with his left foot???

  8. My brother felt the same way about Larsson at first, and look how that turned out.:86:

  9. i think mcgeady is class i would love to see him being more direct instead of trying to beat a man 2/3 times then crossing it. It would be great to see him being like lionel messi cutting inside beating a man and keep running at goal

  10. How anyone can slate the kid is beyond me.

Him and naka are our only creative players.

Guys in his position will always lose the ball at times, but id rather see him take the full-back on and beat him 1 in every 3 than see him turn round and pass it back to hartley.

The difference now is teams are on to him. They know if they nullify aiden we dont have much else to offer, as our opening 2 games have shown.

  11. McGeady will only get better - he is the best player we have produced in a long long time. World class.

  12. You've got to be kidding.

  13. Did anyone see his programme on Celtic TV where he was doing keepy-ups with a tennis ball, then a golf ball - he must have been about 10 years old in the clip - astonishing!

  14. I can assure you i'm deadly serious

  15. So he's up there with Maradona, Pele, Zidane and more recently Kaka, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho etc. Good one:50:

  16. So you've defined "World Class" as the best player in the world?

I would define it as a player who can perform at the highest level, Champions League, World Cup etc... I think Aiden McGeady certainly has the potential to do so.

  17. Potential means he's not there yet and World Class means you are one of the best in the world, not thee best in the world.

  18. I understand your dad

  19. Yes I think this is a great post! McGeady is a load of crap! Reminds me of that useless git in the 60,s called Johnstone! OK, Johnstone was brilliant 70% of the time but overall useless as he tried to entertain. ! Also another useless git my father mentioned was Charlie Tully! Thank Christ I never seen him play, apparently just as bad as Johnstone and McGeady!
